I have seen this movie and have also read a book by a Rwandan woman who survived the war by being locked up in the bathroom of a local minister. The book is called Left to Tell; I didn't quite catch what you were saying, but I believe you wanted to know why didn't the world powers get involved when such a thing was occurring in Rwanda; Simple. Rwanda didn't have nothing as a commodity that they wanted; It was just a simple land that went quite mad for a period of time by maiming and killing half of their own people. And if you want to be honest, back in World War 2, when the U.S. knew of the concentration camps, they still didn't do much to solve the problem either.

That's completely true, they knew very early on (1942 I think) of the camps, but they did absolutely nothing. They had perfectly detailed arial photos showing the ovens and the people standing in a line before going into the gas chambers. Same goes for the British government, not just the US, both governments knew. I guess they figured they couldn't do much anymore.

I saw this movie a few months ago. It broke my heart to se neighbors killing each other because of the tribe they belonged to. The same type of thing is going on in the Sudan and Dufar These people are being raped and murdered and the nations don't seem to care. Women can't leave the refuge camp with out being caught and raped and often killed but the government will not allow enought un soldiers in to stop it. But then sometimes it's the soldiers that just as bad. every where you look we are killing each other.

I just watched this movie, and it is unbelievable to me. You cannot even imagine that anyone could do this to eachother. It reminds me a lot of the Holocaust, just with less people killed. Still, the number killed was about a million, which is just insane. And to think that this happened just 13 years ago, is unbelievable. Stuff like this should not be happening! It needs to be stopped!

..I believe the world is ignoring it as it continues to occur in Darfur right now and has been for awhile.. If it involved the looking to develop or acquire weapons of mass destruction, the world would address it (for a moment anyway). [Or in the past, if it involved oil trade and leases.] - I really think the (unknown) mindset of the world is "if we just let these mad despots get their genocides over with, then we can work out world peace with them" - now I ask you.. is there any way possible such a thing could ever succeed? And how can we (mankind) possibly think in such a way, and ignore these terrible, terrible sufferings being experienced by great and noble people..

It is undeniably one of the worst atrocities ever. When I was watching it, I couldn't help but feel angry 'coz the world turned its back to Rwanda in an era of fast communication.
