Here's one you can all respond to...Favorite Childhood Memory??

Childhood Memories..Ladybug - Here is a picture of a Ladybug just like I used to collect at Grandma's. We had alot of fun seeing who could get the most. Then we let them go without harm.

What is your favorite childhood memory? My favorite memory to recall is collecting Ladybugs and Japanese Beetles from my Grandmothers Flower Garden. Oh what fun we used to have. First we would collect all the japanese beetles we could find and put them in a jar. The one who got the most got a nickel. My grandfather would then dispose of them as they ate the leaves of the roses. Then we would collect all the ladybugs we could find and the winner of that got a nickel. We would then release the ladybugs as they were good for the garden. After dinner my grandfather would take us for a ride and we would go to the country store and get penny candy. We all got a nickel to spend, but the winners always had extra to spend. I usually won the ladybug contest as I didn't like the way the japanese beetles would cling to your skin...yuk..lol How about your childhood?

You're all going to think that there's something not quite right with me, but my favourite childhood memory -- which is also my very first one -- was when I watched the first steps of Man on the moon. It was the middle of the night where I was, and I was sitting on the tiled floor in front of my parents' black-and-white television. I was so impressed by what I was witnessing... but then again, all kids are pretty impressionable! ;)

I have several fond memories of my childhood, but one particular one involves staying at my Grandmother's house. My Grandad had a long garden in which he kept chicken at the bottom, flowers in the right-hand border and fruit bushes and vegetables in the wider, left-hand garden. Those were the good old days, huh? My Grandad was great... every time I went there, he would put to work his woodwork experience and always make me something to play with. I recall him, over the years, making me the following playthings... a doll's house, a cart, stilts, a penny-roller (like those you find in a fairground), a box, in which to keep things i treasured, (he painted this with flowers on), a yo-yo, a football rattle, a skipping rope and probably numerous other things I've forgotten. I was spoiled by my Grandfather. He was the first person ever to take me to London and to a Football match. I loved him so much. He was a great Grandad and whenever I went to visit, he would take my hand and take me out-back to his shed, to show me what he'd been making for me. Then, as soon as I had that, he would start on the next. Such fond memories. Thank you, Mari, for such a lovely topic of discussion and warm, warm memories of my Grandfather. :-)

i have alot of nice memories related to my childhood. but i think the one i will never forget is related to my grandfather. he wasn't my biological grandfather but he has always been there for me, unlike my biological one whom i don't even know. anyway he had a house at the countryside and his mother used to plant tullips each year. hundreds of them. one year he came back from the countryside around the end of april or the beggining of may with his arms full of tullips. because he had missed my birthday (wich is almost at the end of april) he had brought me a late present. he's arms full of tullips ... more than a hundred i think. since he passed away almost 3 years ago this is the dearest memory i have with hm

first of all i would like to say about the topic u have started - i think this is the easyest ways recall ur past memories and with this a smile appears on our face by recalling our favorite childhood memory. my favorite childhood memory is when i was 8 year old boy my mother used to taker me to his father home and there was well where i used to see some turtels and they used to like me cause i always give them some thing from my food to eat because there in the well fish were very much less for them to eat and it was a clean well.so this became my best ever remembered memory..

My Pepa would pay us for crawdads (aka crawfish). Us girls would go get them from under rocks in the muddy banks. We would get paid for the size of them. Small ones got a nickel, medium sized got a dime, and the "big daddies" got a quarter! He would then use them as fishing bait the next morning!

huh, favorite childhood memory? It s Christmas time so i would probably have to say that my favorite childhood memory was decorating Christmas tree. I know it sounds silly but i have lost that Christmas spirit. For me Christmas is now just one of the days in year, sad but true. Oh, boy, decorating was really special thing to me. I was very excited when we were buying Christmas tree. All those shiny things on tree were very interesting. lol enough from me.

I'm sorry you have lost the Christmas spirit. Tell me a bit about your self and what you like and maybe we can get you back in the sprit. To me Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and about the people I love and about helping others. All this

There are so many....I think my favorite would have to be goint to the drive in with my family when I was little. We lived in California and every Saturday night we'd pop our popcorn and take our sodas to the Drive In. We'd (4 of us) sit in the back of my parents station wagon with pillow and blankets and watch whatever Disney film they were playing. Oh the good ole days.

Those were the days. Not too many drive ins around now. But I read something last year that they were starting to regain popularity. We did the same thing...lol

Here is a piece of childhood memory, from New Delhi (India) with love and all best wishes for a very very Happy New Year 2007. That was way back in 1960. I was a youngster and I had a four annas (that is Indian 1/4th of a Rupee) coin in my hands and was standing in a pond playing with water. All of a sudden, the coin fell off my hands and I started frantically searching for it, in the process, I got the whole water muddied and there was no trace of the coin. Immediately, I stood erect and prayed to God to give me back the coin. And lo, as I looked down the water was cleared and mud settled down and of course, the coin was just there. God listens to prayers of young minds. That experience kindled in me a fire of love and faith in the Almighty. It is still there and full faith that tells me that God will give anything if you only ask for it. Can you believe it, I have so much faith in God (not to say that others do not have) that He will answer to anything that we ask of Him, even if He has to send it through a miracle.

My Favourite childhood memory is one during my trip to Mumbai Elephanta Caves with my family, I was about 10 years old then we had gone to elephanta caves in a steamer, on reaching there we were supposed to climb a lot of stairs to reach the caves, On the way my mother got tired and she sat down to relax; suddenly a monkey jumped from the tree and snatched her hand bag which was full of goodies along with our house keys and other important stuff. It climbed a tree and started and one by by started exploring the contents of the bag. I still remember what all tactics my father and uncle had to do to get the bag back.

One of my favorite memories is catching lightning bugs with my papa in his garden and bringing them into the house and letting them go. My grandma wasn't wild about it but she allowed it anyway because they spoiled me a bit and what ever I wanted to do within reason, we did. Another favorite memorie is going to the movie with my grandma to see Mary Poppins for the first time. It was great and we watched it two times that day.

Well.. there are a lot of memries, but, this one is the most scary. I was about 13 years old and was watering the plants at home with one of my cousins. One time when i ried to get water from the pool, i fell down in the water. It happened so fast that i was in the water before i could realize. I somehow managed to hold on to a rod above the water surface. When my cousin came back to the pool a couple of minutes later, she dragged me out of the pool. The best part is that my parents came to know about this only a week later. My cousin, saved my life!

I had a few, One new family, After I was adopted took me up to Baraboo, Wisconsin to Ride the Autumn Train my first real offical train ride. My parents did not know I snuck on trains elsewhere though I was only 6 years old at the time :) ... That tied with my adoption party was awesome too. We had so many people there. I still to this day have no idea. As Not only were my sister and I both adopted at the same time. But we were adopted to Two Different families. So we had both families at our party, althought I was kind of a brat, and did not want to Dance with Dad... in front of everyone. I admit I was shy, I didn't want everyone to see how I was dressed, and by the end of the dance I was sick of the words.. "Aw, how cute" lol... But the party still out of all the parties I ever been to or had, was the funnest, party I ever been too. I had alot of fun as a child. More than I ever can seem to have as an adult although I have not lost my courage to be silly, explore, or keep people wondering about me. Like the one day dad caught me riding down the stairs I thought no one was home. So I slid down the stairs on my rear because I felt like doing so had not down so for forever and my toe hurt anyhow lol... I see him stop watching me midway scratching his head.. "Oh I dunno about you" Or when I am caught dancing around to music in my head lip syncing. Hey that was one of my favorite childhood activities Dancing to Prince and the Revolution! ... Or when I am working my legs to get them used to some Native Steps, as the Spirits want me to get my legs ready for the spring and summer season. The Rain Spirits require I dance alot when them, So sitting all winter can make you outta shape. So when I think Everyone is gone Dad will come in and see me dancing on my tippy toes wondering what I am up to now giggles. That has not changed much.... Other favorite childhood memory was sneaking into the woods and jumping out of the trees holding the grapevines or tying them to our feet. My African-American Brothers taught me how to do this.... We'd take turns doing so. So recently when they started the going tribal series on TV. My Dad and I watch them doing that, and It brings back lots of good memories in the woods. Till one Day dad came in there and I was hanging from the bottom of the Vine upside down with my feet tied to it giggles..... He was not to happy about that :) .... But we had a fun day. - DNatureofDTrain

i have lot of childhood memories which i cherish whenva i remember them. one of d most prominent one goes like this... one day my mom asked me to buy a packet (one litre) of sunflower edible oil from a nearby shop n gave me the money. i went to the shop n bought the same. shopkeeper gave me the change back and i was still standing there. then he asked me "why are you waiting here? do you want anything more?" i innocently pointed to the packet of the oil and told him "you dint get me this cholestrol". actually there was "cholestrol free" written on the packet!!
