Oh my gosh... The first step she should have taken before he even got out the first time was child proof her house so he couldnt get out! You're right. She needs to go to jail. Uncalled for. I'm glad he's safe. He is safe isn't he?

OMG!!!!! I cannot BELIEVE Social Services hasn't removed this child from his home!!! This is the type of woman who should've been born barren...but as God works in mysterious ways, I think he sent these irresponsible vermins here to give us a reality check from time to time and help us take better care of our own kids. I feel sorry for the children involved and my heart goes out to them. Please say a prayer for those angels unfortunate enough to have mothers like that. I hope that this type of events only make us better moms. OMG, this is absolutely horrendous and shameful. I truly despise women who don't represent motherhood as it should be!!!!!!!

Well, think of it this way. She was the only woman on earth capable of having that particular child. The CHILD is a blessing....regardless of the circumstances of his conception or the qualifications of his mother. :-) HE is special and obviously has something to offer the world or he wouldn't be here, eh? :-D

Is this the one that happened in Indianapolis?? He was playing on an INTERSTATE, not highway, if so. I know!!! It's UNREAL that people behave this way!!! It's amazing that the child wasn't hit. My daughter has escaped on me twice, but both times,I was right behind her within a min or two. And I know that all it takes is a second for something to happen and it scares the sh*t out of me!!! I now have chains at the top of every outside door. These kinds of people deserve to have their kids taken away, never given back, and it should be mandatory for them to have their tubes tied!!! Good Topic!

That's really scary. I know quite well that if my door wasn't locked then my two year old would try to get out, I'm petrified of that happening, it's one of my worst fears! It does only take a second for something to happen and I know if I fell asleep that my kid would take advantage and get up to all sorts of mischief. That woman probably won't even have to worry about her kids getting taken off her, I can't believe she wasn't even worried. I'm nervous just thinking about my son getting outside the door, never mind going near a road. I feel so sorry for the poor kids, what must their lives be like...

Wow!! This is someone who does not deserve to have a child. Was she high or what? I don't understand how she could sleep with a 2 year old running around. Just nuts!!!

what a terrible shot is that ur even more surprised than his mother huh?!

wow, she does not deserve to be a mom. Mothers like that disgust me. If you are blessed enough to become a mom you need to take the job seriously.

It does seem weird that a mother wouldn't be in extreme shock and shooken up over this. If I were the mom I'd probably be paranoid for life and sleeping in the same room as my kid...I'd have nightmares otherwise! The fact that social services had visited the home before just confirms that she's an unfit mother...another sad case of neglect.

Perhaps the mom has some sort of substance abuse problem. It is hard to imagine a mother of a two year old being so lax for so long that the toddlercould get that far away and she did not know it. He should probably be removed from the home for his own safety.

I live in Las vegas, they just had a toddler hit by a car, parents were not watching, and then yesterday when i went to pick my kids up from school, I saw the police reurning a child who couldn't have been more than 4 yrs old. he was walking in the jack in the box parking lot. I think parents need to wake up and pay atttention. My boys are 6 & 7 and they don't leave the front yard where I can here and see them. More parents need to do the same.

what kind of mom is she? She is so irresponsible. Seems like she forgot that she has a baby. What the heck is that..some kind of amnesia or she might be thinking she is still single and all she cares is herself. The child should not deserve her. I had my sympathy for the baby.

This is so sad. I have seen this many times on TV. A toddler wandered outside by himself one time and was hit by a car. Another child wandered outside by a lake here in Florida and was attacked by an alligator. Small children need constant supervision. As parents it is our responsibility to protect them from harm. If a Mom needs a break to take a nap or go shopping, etc. she shoud make sure she has someone to watch her child. You cannot leave a toddler alone to fend for themselves. That is just asking for trouble.

I have to say these kind of news stories really bother me and really make me wish there was a test of some kind to determine if someone should be allowed to be a parent. That little boy could have been killed and honestly I dont think the mother would care. That little bdeserves to be taken away from his mother and given to a family who will take care of him properly.

Women like this give mothers a bad name. If she doesn't want him, she should do him a favor and give him to someone that can not have children. It just angers me to read about moms that don't give a sh*t about their kids! I have seven children and if I found any of them to ever "escape" I would be crying and screaming to find my child!!!!

about 3 years ago my son had done something like this to me but i was so mad at him that i wouldn't let him out of the house afterwards. it was summer time and he went outside while i was sleeping and so was the little brother. anyways he said that he was looking for his dad so that he could get breakfast. he didn't want mommy to make it for him. i was so happy when i got him back from the police department and i was lucky that nothing happened to him. now i get up around 5am every morning so i know just what is going on in the house first thing in the morning.

If I had been the policeman, I wouldn't have taken the child back to the mother. Quite obviously she wasn't taking care of him, or she would have missed him and gone out looking for him. A similar thing happened to my husband as he was driving to work. He saw a baby creeping along on the middle of the road. There was only one house on the road so my husband assumed that the baby there. After picking up the baby he called to the house and the mother just roared laughing at the idea of the baby creeping along the busy road. I think some people should be made to take an IQ before being allowed to have children.

This just disgusts me. And to be honest, it makes me feel panicked at the thought- because her child (this poor, innocent little boy) could have been hit by a car and killed. Heck, her other child could have suffered the same fate. The police officers claimed they found another child around the same age in the same condition... food on the floor, nasty diaper, etc. And the mom looked like it was no big deal. People like this should not be allowed to breathe. We all have a bad day, we might be wiped out to the point of falling asleep on the couch for a minute, but holy sh*t. There is no excuse for this.

I hope they throw away the key. It sounds like she dont care about that baby. I think they should put that baby in a home where he will be safe. Women like that shouldnt even have kids. But unfortunately they do.
