Mylot guidelines say that please do not post one word answers. But i have seen so many discussions where people have got 1000 to 3000 responses for Single word answers. Are we just posting them to get our post numbers increased? or we just answer them because we like the discussion topic?
Myself, actually i try avoiding posts to the onew word answers. If i still do, it does mean i liek the topic. What about you? have you ever tried to post one word answers? if yes why? if not why?

Yeah, I don't get it. Not even one-word answers, but answers that don't really say anything. I see some people who have thousands of points and yet almost every answer I see from them is like, "I don't know the answer to that" or "I'm not familiar with that." Then why post a response at all?! To get points, of course, that's why they do it, but I would think that Mylot would disallow answers like that that are clearly given just to gain points and not to convey any information.
I just don't get it!

I think as you! and I believe that many people whom much point has, do not have the same amount in money profits. Therefore what valley is the quality of its replies, if you it was or it is natural when it answers, and the amount of how much you write. I just don't get it!

No, I do not answer with just a word or few words. I try to answer as descriptive as possible. Creating a discussion that requires a one word response eventually get deleted as I've experienced in the past, I'm not saying that I responded with one word, I responded with a rather long well thought of response but the discussion got deleted so the credit was again deducted from my number.
So now, I don't really respond to questions that requires one word answers.

That is really not fair when people have just one word answer. That means they didn't read anything and just said whatever they wanted. Just one word anything nonsense. And they have so many replies. I would call that cheating. What about the other people who has actually written a proper reply. Well they might get paid less.

One word answers is not a "discussion" but you can't do much about it...except not do it yourself =/

First of all, I love your avatar (profile picture). That's super cool. Is it something you made, or did you get it somewhere on the web? I can't say that I've ever seen it before, so I wouldn't be surprised if you created it. Impressive. Second, in response to your comment, I think that there are ways to reply to most topics without using just one word? For example, I often will expand the topic a bit and ask people other questions related to the topic while I'm posting. In the example of birth year, you can simply state your birth year, or you can broaden the topic and ask others how many siblings they have that are older or younger than them and what years they were also born. I would never want to limit my answers to one word and then blame it on the discussion starter. If you can't think creatively enough to post more than a one word reply, move onto the next topic. I say that it's better to avoid doing something that myLot doesn't like at all cost. That's my opinion.

yes, I try to avoid one word response. Although it's agreed, one word response will result to less credit or even reduce credit !thanks

If it is me i will not respond to the one word answers just because people just do that without any interest in the discussion i feel it is not what the person who started the discussion really expects from the members of mylot. We need some relavent discussions which can convey the views of the person in some sentences but not in a word.

It's because they're greedy and they want to make a lot of posts real quickly, so they can make money real quickly. They either don't realize that better posts that are more well thought out don't make much money, or they just don't care.

I don't like the one word answer -- and try not to give them. If a question can be answer with one word like yes or no -- I answer but try to explain why I have that answer. I'm new to mylot and I am really enjoying the whole concept and listening to what others say about so many topics. I don't what kind of system that Mylot has in place to "enforce" the do not post one word answer guidelines are they ignored on the response count?
