In my opinion Steve Yzerman is the best player to put on a pair of skates.

Statistically speaking, Wayne Gretzky is unquestionably the greatest player around, although he may end up yielding that to Sidney Crosby, who's on pace to break his point total when he was 19.
Tough to say though, since it's still so early in Crosby's career. All it takes is one injury and any hope of breaking Gretzky's records is gone. The Great One, in addition to raw talent, also had longevity, and that fact more than anything else is what gives him all the records.

Yes, Gretzky is, and will always be the "Great One". I'm just a real fan of Steve Y. I think he's a complete package, and I'll miss him on the ice.

Oh no question about it, Stevie Y's a class act, and you can certainly make the argument that he did a lot of things better than Gretzky (Captaining a team for example).
I'm looking forward to see what he's going to do with the GM responsibilities for the 2010 olympics!
