What did you used to pretend to be as a kid?

When I was a kid I used to pretend to be the Terminator, scanning the playground for my target... I guess I wanted to be a killing machine while I was growing up... I thought of this mainly because at work this guy always balls up pieces of paper and shoots them at the garbage and says "Kobe". So I guess I have an alternate question which is, do you ever wish you were someone else? Or are you happy in your own skin?

I always pretended to be a teacher. I would play school with my friends and always wanted to be the teacher so I could write on the chalkboard.
Now, here I am 15 years later..I am a teacher. Except I don't write on a chalkboard, we have smart boards and computers and projectors and all kinds of high tech stuff. And, honestly, I couldn't imagine having to write on a chalkboard! haha

As a kid growing up in the '60s, I followed the space program pretty closely. I had models of all the rockets and capsules, so I guess I admired them. And the first man to walk on the moon was from my home state, so that helped.
I guess I pretended to be an athlete as well, something easier to relate to than being an astronaut sitting in a cramped capsule.

when i was a lil kid, i tagged along with my dad to watch kungfu movies. it was still the era of the flying fights with fighters (both men and women) having long braided hair, different kungfu styles like snake, dragon, tiger, etc. and i really like those chinese women who are so skilled, heroines defending the weak, very strong yet very beautiful! i guess that's the reason why i joined wonwoh do in college and continued with taekwondo. on your Q about wishing i were someone else, nope. i'm happy being myself, thank you :)

That's good to be comfortable in your own skin! I always wished that I'd learned some types of martial arts it always looked so cool! Being Asian many people ask me if I know any good moves, sadly I don't!

I pretended to be a lot of things as a kid. I made up this whole story about a world inside of our moon... and the queen there and her daughters and a blood prince (wolf) who was trying to destroy their world. The daughters came to earth and were inside my body and my friends bodies. There was something with different colored roses and gemstones too. I had all my friends playing it too. Oh yeah, and the queen - Genevieve - communicated through the mirror.
When I was with my cousin Val we always pretended to be runaway pioneer children, Southern Belles, or witches (not like the Wizard of us - more like the herb growing women in the midieval times).
When I was with my cousin Andrew we were always Ninjas or wrestlers.
I also pretended to be Baby from Dirty Dancing and Jem from Jem and the Holograms.
I am pretty happy in my own skin but I do from time to time wish I was someone else. No one in particular - just someone else.

Do you mean as in someone who was popular like a cheerleader, etc? Or someone like a movie star or cartoon character?
No to the first one. I've always been a little more into doing my own thing.
To the second one I did do Dirty Dancing, Jem & The Holgrams, She-ra... but I never pretended to be Debbie Gibson, or anyone else specific. I wanted to be a rock star- but not any current rock star.
I also wanted to marry Christian Slater ... that didn't happen either :(

Wow, sounds like you had a good time as a kid! I think it always shows how much of an imagination you have... It looks like yours is working fine! Did you ever pretend to be a popular character?

I really do not remember. My childhood was terrible. I would like to forget it. I may never behave as a child.
But I like your discussion. It is cute.

As a kid i always wanted to be a cricket player, ann odd choice i know, most people wanted to be football (Soccer) players but i wouldn't want to be really famous, im too shy for that. Anyway i wanted to be a cricket player until i realized that i'm actually shi* at cricket. I still wish i could be a cricket player today, seems a much easier lofe than all this university stuff

It's funny how it's not a popular sport in the US, but my 3rd grade teacher had us play it all the time, because he loved it! I always enjoyed it, and wish more people knew how to play here in the states!

At primary school I used to pretend to be a robot, which could be controlled by voice, my girlfriends used to give me commands which I did. They even called me metal mickey, it was an old tv show which I used to watch and imitate. I loved being a robot, they would direct me into a wall or would make me bump into things. I would then pretend to lose control then I would run after them and the game would turn into kiss chase.

i've always been a reader, so i guess you could say that i've pretended to be hundreds of people and things in my time. as far as being comfortable in my own skin...well...i have to say that there are times i would change things ABOUT myself, but for the most part i've been pretty comfortable with myself...tho i do wish i was more...uummmm...likable.
