I have been trying for over 7 months now but the only time I made money off the internet was picking up freelance projects and working hard. All those "affiliate" programs that promise to make you $500 per week are crap.
My rule of thumb is simple: If a program can make me $500 per week then the cost of joining a program should be taken out of my week's earnings. The whole point that they want me to pay before I make money stinks. You should be expected to work to make money, not pay money to make money.

I didn't pay anyone. I am a worker, not a salesman. I am willing to work to get paid but I know and acknowledge the fact that I am no good at selling.
My point is that there are no work at home opportunities for people who want to work without having to sell or refer other people. The only way internet money works is through getting other people to join the bandwagon. Pure workers have no hope of making money. This whole internet-money thing was started by marketeers for marketeers. The other people are just being conned.
You can be the first to offer people a chance to make money on the internet if you are so confident. There are plenty of testimonials on EVERY SINGLE affiliate site with people claiming they made thousands in their first month. You are probably one of those.
Most people are not. You are welcome to my hard work, but not to my wallet.
