Do You Believe In Spanking Your Children?

My mother used to chase us around with rolled up newspaper. It sure made a lot of noise and scared the tar out of us. She also used the threat of "wait till your father gets home" We would jump to attention.
When I started going to school I met a friend that got spanked and alot. Usually with belt. That to me was a beating. Then other kids said they were spanked..I was shocked never having come from a home where our parents spanked us.
Do you think it is necessary to spank children to make them listen? How many still believe in spanking a child?

Yes I am one of those terrible people who do believe in spanking children because I believe that a light tap with the hand is enough to make the child listen and does not harm them in anyway. Quite often just the shock of the spanking is enough for the child to pay attention. The main thing with children is consistency, and I never used anything other than my hand on the bottom. I cannot remember at what age our son was when I stopped having to spank him. He has always known that if he is called by his Christian name then he is in trouble, by both of his Christian names then he id in BIG trouble, because generally we call him by a family nickname.

nope, i do not believe in those things. besides i see nothing to be believing with it but some one is geting hurt about it. greetings. : )

I dont think it is necissary to spank kids. I think I was more for it when my kids were little. They are older now, and I dont think it has the same effect. I do think that kids today should get spanked by their parents if they misbehave.
I dont spank anymore, I have upgraded to specific punishments per the crime.

I don't have any kid's but I still don't think you should spank them when they are bad !!! Personally I would try to ground them first !!! That's just what I think !!!
