Well, what I usually do is estimate the size of the chicken and approximately how long it will take to cook through. Dark meat, which is the drumsticks, thighs, and wings take longer than the white meat.
So, what you can do, is usually bake for around an hour, and check it with a knife and fork, to make sure that it is not raw.
Also, if you are following a recipe, it usually states how long to cook it. But if you are just roasting a chicken or chicken pieces, I would generally recommend somewhere along an hour....more or less

Sawsen, it depends upon what u r making with chicken. in different recipe it takes differnt time, for example, if u want to mak a chicken carry, will take maximum 15 to 20 mints, whereas if u want to make cheicken tandoori, it will take 40 45 mints. the best way to know when chicken is done is the color of chicken and fiber of chicken will be more prominent - that is the time you can say it is done. if say me specifically tell me what u r going to make i can tell you the timeframe.

With chicken or turkey you can tell if you see no red juice coming out when you pierce it , I usually test if the meat is easy to take of the bones , as long as you don't eat it when its pink you will be fine xx

If the chicken is boneless I go by thickness of the meat. If it is too thick I will pound it with a mallet to flatten it out more. This will ensure equal cooking times. When frying I will cook it 10 minutes on one side and 10 minutes on the other. Baking is a different story. I think it is 15 minutes for every pound.

Well I actually cooked one today, but here they actually tell us how to do it on the Packet and even how long to cook it for. So that is a big help, but the other way to find out is by sticking a Fork into the Chicken which will also tell you if it is still raw.

For any meat that you cook if you stick a fork into it and don't see any red or pinkish fluid coming out it is usually done. i check to see that the fluid coming out is more clear in color.
