I didn't get a chance to see this in the theater. I wanted to just never got around to it. So when it did come out I rented it. I loved the movie. It was very well done. Yes it is long, will be the first to admit that one, but I can't imagine what they would have taken out of it to make it shorter. It is jammed packed. There really isn't a lull in it. Overall an excellent movie, and one I recommend to many who haven't seen it.

Braveheart is one of those few movies that you come across once or twice in a decade. It is a wonderfully told story of William Wallace, a hero whose rise to fame and military power was brought about by the murder of his young wife. Through Gibson's brilliant acting, we watch a tortured soul forced to embrace a legacy that he never wanted.
The movie has brilliant acting, brilliant direction, and a musical score that will move you to tears. The only downside of the movie was its graphic violence. Nevertheless, it is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and it will go down in history as an epic masterpiece and the pinnacle of Gibson's career.

I watched it at home, but on a big screen TV with surround sound. It's one of my favorite movies :)

I saw Braveheart in the theater/cinema on its opening weekend. I went as part of a group, with all members being part of the Society for Creative Anachronism, so we were dressed as Scots and English. I myself was in kilt, with medieval sandals, ring belt and sporran, chainmail hauberk and medieval t-tunic, with a scottish dirk and longsword. Usually when we walk into a public place in full garb we turn every head in the place and attract more attention than what we're there to see.

The first time I saw Braveheart it was in a cinema. I loved it so much I went back again a few nites later, & I get there & there's a sign on the door that due to some kind of malfunction it was not going to be shown. & it was the last nite, too. I had to settle for Bridges of Madison County. So I rented the movie when it came out, & bought it as soon as I could. If I pass it on tv channel surfing, I usually end up watching it. Love it!
