Wonderful, This is how you honour the traditions and rituals of the people, where you cannot live with others' opinion. The present senario of confrontation is because of the contributions of the people like you. This is the begining and the end is where Osama Bin Laden,Saddam Hussein and Hitler have and had their haydays. The two streams of the same river never meet !!!!!!!

I've always wanted to attend the Khumba Mela! I think it would be an incredible experience. I know this may sound silly though, but aren't some people worried about the level of pollution in the Ganges? Or does the fact that the river is so sacred override any danger? Have you attended the Khumba Mela ever Hariharbhat? And I also have also wondered - does it take place only in the Ganges, or also in other rivers or bodies of water?

Friend, I didnot attend anytime. I am surprised at the strong belief the people have. See if you have inclination to study the past, since 100 years there is continuous onslaught on the traditional beliefs in every religion but the followers are increasing year by year. Is it because of the uncertainty of life on this earth ?

Maybe - interesting thought. Yes I think religion does definately have a lot to do with a sense of security. I find different religions very interesting though.

Kumbha Mela........ considered as very holy and all the sages/rishis/saints of all rank will gather to celebrate this great event. Great souls like Lahiri Mahasaya and Yukteshwar Giri have met the immortal Babaji during Kumba Mela.

Samson hats off to you. Yes we are required to know the developments and traditions of different religion. I can make out and say with all confidence that our (you and I) thoughts are sailing in the same boat. Yes you are right about this event.
