Coach Tour Holidays Your View

I have been seriously thinking over the last year about visiting Sweden, I made my first step today by going into a travel agency, they suggested a coach tour. I've never been on one before, its 14 day tour everything included but it is very expensive. I know coach holidays, no disrespect are usually popular with the retired. I am 35. Your opinions on coach holidays for and against would be greatly received so I can decide whether a coaching holiday to Sweden would be a viable solution.

I think that is great. I say go for it. If you can afford it then by all means do it. I think a coaching holiday would be just fine for you. Take a lot of pictures, we want to see them.

Thanks, there is a sting in the tail, because I'm travelling on my own, I get stung for single supplement on top which makes it even more expensive! OUCH....

How exciting to be thinking of going to Sweden for a holiday ... I think a coach trip can be a great idea if it's a country you've never been to before .. and perhaps if you are a lone traveller then having a preset itinerary is of value .. But it will be essential to check out the probably age range of the group you are travelling with .. if you were the only 30's years old on a Saga holiday (over 50's) for instance it could make for a very miserable holiday So you'll have to find the right coach tour ... But do ry and find out if you can make a holiday to Sweden in other ways and more cheaply .. coach tours are great .. but you do sopend a lot of time sitting in a coach .. perhaps not something a young man like yourself will feel comnfortable doing ...

The lady in the travel agents was a very nice lady indeed and gave me loads of brochures to go through and some actually pick up from my town too! It will be going by ferry across to France, I'd rather fly and I did think about the room capacity as I'm 6 foot 2, hmmm gonna need more thinking time I guess. I would love to go in May as a birthday treat to myself.

I am sure that coach tours must have a lot to offer because otherwise they would not be as popular as they are. Nevertheless they have never appealed to me and travelling a couple of hundred miles by coach is more than enough for my liking. Whenever I think about a coach holiday I always envisage the downsides. Travelling most of the day to fly to Spain or Italy is fine because the result is the option of spending plenty of quality time there, but the thought of travelling for several hours every day is not my idea of a holiday. There is also the places visited, I doubt if enough time really exists to spend much time in one place before moving on to next. I have known people to take a European coach trip and pass straight through a country, stopping only at customs when entering and leaving.

It was the discussion about old discussions that sparked my interest. I regret to say that your name did not ring any bells with me despite how long you have been here, but I visited your profile page to see what kind of material you had posted. I found a few good discussions so it was a worthwhile visit, but I had not realised that I had gone that far back yet.

Isn't it strange how our opinions and interests change, I noticed that this discussion is 6 years old, ironically I started a discussion about responding to discussions that were 6 years old. I have lost my travel bug and now I would hate to go on a coach tour, cooped up with a coach load of strangers is not my idea of fun.

I did a three week coach tour of New Zealand years ago and I had the best time, took it in turns to have parties in the rooms at night and slept on the coach during the day mostly, but it was good fun....

A few years ago I was considering going on a 14 day coach tour and, like you wasn't too sure about it. So I booked a short break tour to Paris. Sitting on a bus for so long isn't the nicest thing, in my opinion, but you do get good views of the countryside. One benefit is that the longest you will travel without a break is 4 and a half hours (driving time regulations) so you know you'll be able to stretch your legs once in a while. I quite enjoyed it and would now consider the longer tour, but I'd be looking for the best deal I could get, and one without the single supplements. Good luck, and if you go, enjoy.

Thank you, appreciate your response, yeah the single supplements are a rip off and expensive.

If you like the cold... Have heard about the IceHotel? Probably it is not cheap. But you can go there only from January till March. I have never been there, but i think it is very clear. All the northern countries in europe are very clear. You will see. Have a nice trip.

Well, if you should go on a coach tour or not is up to you of course, only you can decide if it suits you or not. But being Swedish, I can only add that if you want, you can also travel by yourself, since all kinds of public transportation is really very good and easy to use in Sweden. So you don't have to go for a coach tour if you don't want to, there are other options too!
