1. Learn good technique first
Learn where the keys are and which fingers should be used for each key. Also use good body and arm/hand positioning - good ergonomics. This will be the basis for long term good typing habits.
2. Repetition - repetition - repetition
Automatic movements are only developed through plenty of repetition and practice. Muscles and joints learn position in space and movement patterns through continuous movement in the patterns to be learned. Every athlete and sportsman knows that regardless of talent, practice is what makes the body work well.
3. Don't look
No matter how tempted you are, once you have learned the correct finger placement and which fingers to use for specific keys, practice typing without looking. Being tempted to look at your fingers reduces the motor training effect, and relies more heavily on vision for finding the correct keys rather than the kinesthetic 'muscle and sensory' senses of the fingers. Developing good speed will be significantly hindered if vision is used. This is true of the whole typing process, since looking at the keyboard results in the visual shift from keyboard to screen to paper documents, thus reducing the efficiency of typing in all ways.
4. Be disciplined!
This point cannot be emphasized enough. Instead of focusing on accuracy of key hits, rather work on your SPEED during this second phase of training. You can make corrections later, but for now, work on getting your speed up without looking! Put a towel over your hands if necessary.

there are typing courses available on the internet that gradually increase your speed over a couple or months of practice. obviously, you cannot increse it over night. you will have to get your fingers in the right positions and ractice a lot.

If you go to http://www.fooledya.com/games/letters/ you can download Letter Invaders. It's based on the old arcade game Space Invaders. In this case, the aliens are words randomly selected from the dictionary and you shoot them down by typing them correctly. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same game. If a word gets to the bottom you lose. When you get to the next level, they drop faster. It's a fun way to build both your typing speed and accuracy.

There are short term courses regarding typing and fast typing. Also there are games or software you can buy in computer stores and from there you can start. Likewise, you should always be on your computer to type fast. Mylot is a good practice, You join any discussions and answer it long and you will surely remember the keys on your keyboard. YOu will type faster as you practice typing everyday! Hope this help. Do Good!

The trick is simple, you need to learn from the basic fingering. :) there are a lot of free typing courses online even freebie softwares. :p another tips practice makes perfect. need to use all your fingers to type faster.. in fact 10 is better than 2. :D I admit that some can type faster with 2 fingers but they definitely no match for 10 fingers.

Do you have a manual typewriter to practice? If yes try and get the instruction book from anyone of the typing institute and practice typing on the typewriter as per instructions given on the book without removing your fingers from the centre row keys.
