As many of you know I have recently moved into a brand new house.Wow,I hadn't considered the expenses involved.I need a clothesline, curtains, towel rails, toilet roll holders, light globes, etc...the list goes on and on.Then I need to establish a garden, build a cattery for my pets.I'm still loving it as it's mine!Hmmm looks like there is lots to be done yet.I'm sure I'm forgetting other things that have to be done lol.Oh well I guess it will come to me as time goes on :)

Congrats on the new home. Any time anyone moves they have a few extra things they need to buy. At least now you dont have to ask if you cna put a kiddie pool in your yard, or a swingset. There are pros and cons to owning your own home as there are pros and cons to renting.
Good luck in your new house adventures.

yes i bet it is , and the main reason is that while moving or shifting so many tiny things are lost and you never seem to fiind them and then you have to buy new ones
the second reason is that some of your ols stuff doesnt match the brightness of your new house and you think of changing that ,
and the third reason is that some things just dont fit into the new dimensions of the house

Don't forget things like having to update your address details with medicare, driver's licence, and that sort of thing.
Also if it is your house you moved into, there are rates to be paid, building insurance in addition to the contents insurance and a whole heap of other stuff.
Start small, and build up as you go.
Good luck & have a great 2007.

Aah ausnikki the fun you will have choosing the extras that you need, and which one to get first. Just take your time and you will get it all eventually I am quite certain. Buy the essentials first but you know that some things can wait for a while till you can afford them, which might be next month or it might be next Christmas. You will enjoy them all that much more for getting excatly what you want and knowing that it is paid rather than adding to your debt.
Once again, congratulations on the move into your new house, which in fact will now be a HOME, not just a house for you and your son. :)

It definitely is! I learnt this for the first time when I set up my own home about 5 years ago... Even a ceiling light can cost a bomb if you decide to go for more fanciful designs...
I have already started saving for my new apartment that will only be ready in 3 years' time! I want to make sure that what I couldn't afford before, I can have it for my new home :)
Meanwhile, having decorating your new lovely home!

At least all the things that you get for your house can be personalised by you. You can get the perfect towel rail you always wanted. Match your curtains to suit your own taste. It is like a blank canvas. All you need is your own imagination and a lot of money and you will see it all come into place. I am so happy for you nikki. In your garden be sure to put a Yesterday Today and Tomorrow plant. That will ensure you will have your memories of yesterday, today and tomorrow :).

I know what you mean!! when we moved into our new house we had decided that we wanted to leave all of our furniture behind and get new for our new home. Well, we did, and then we noticed that there was so much missing. We needed all new stuff for the bath and the kitchen, ect. It took time and money to get things around, and to do like you said and establish were the gardens were going to go, where the dogs were going to stay, where the sheds would be built ect. We have been here two and a half years and we have everything started, but still are doing things little by little. We still want to redue several things and build new things. But I have plenty of time to get things done. In the mean time I am enjoying my new home that I waited so long for.

Congratulations... you now have your own house! Moving to a new house is a wonderful experience especially when everything is new and beautiful. The feeling is almost indescribable, like floating in the air with happiness. I imagine even though you have to spend a lot it doesn't bother you because of the joy of moving to a new house. Good luck on your days to come and enjoy your new home!

You are very lucky to of moved into a brand new home you must of been very excited about it all. Oh yes those expenses can build up quite a lot before you realize it. I have moved from where I used to live and that is how I know about this as well. Yes it is yours and in the end you will be happy that it has all worked out for you. Yes and the other things that you have to do you will remember them the best way of doing this is by going from room to room you do not necessarily have to buy them all at once which helps.

I know exactly what you mean. And the bills just keep piling up. I used to live in a 2 story 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house, and everything was just over the top in terms of finances, so me and my husband moved out into a smaller place, and I think it just depends on the type of person you are. I wish you well in your endeavor, and hopefully everything will settle down in a while.
