Cockatiel Madness

I have just purchased a one year old cockatiel. I have called him trigger and he is absolutly mad. I came home yesterday to him running up and down the cage bottom bobbing his head about and tweeting. Then he sat on the highest perch and jumped feet first into his water bowl, after making everything wet he went and done it again. I think he is a bit mad, has anyone got any advice for me on this mad new addition to my family, or any simular experiences with animals and the mad things they do?
