anyone who is knowledgable about this site, please help me out. Exactly how do you go about making a profit?

Welcome to Mylot. Well! you could start with making quality discussions or responding to discussions. If you want 'profit', bring in a lot of referrals. You can also upload and earn $0.1 per images, provided you've crossed 500 ratings. And most importantly, DON"T violate Mylot rules! Happy Mylotting!

Could you please explain 500 ratings? Is this a certain number of posts or earnings? I'm new to the group and trying hard to learn all the important information.

yes they are mumber of posts and responses you make. the number beside your username is your rating. All the best! hope you reach 500 soon!

I would like to know how many tags should be used when posting a question? Many posts don't have any, so am trying to find out, if there is a number that is just right.
