Can war be justified?

Territorial war has been happening for centuries. Even animals fight for territories. But humans,the most cleaver and intelligant of all,be allowed to fight against each other? Especially when a war affects the nature and the ecology and also the animals in a region? Can there be any possible justification? Can peace be given as a reason for war? Please tell me the answer to thi question. I am from a country where,over the past 50 years 5 wars have been faught between the neighbouring countries.
