I have been trying to keep a positive attitude but I find myself slipping into a negative mental hole. Help. I believe your mental state of mind can influence your health and I am trying to get over a car wreck in Oct. Does anyone have any ideas.

At least you are aware of your negative thoughts creeping in. Just don't give in. You are much stronger than that and you know it won't help in the long run. I recommend you reading a book called The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav. It is very good. I believe that what you put out into the world comes back to you. When you put out negative thoughts those things will happen. When you put out postive thoughts good things will happen. Ask out loud what you want and what you want to change. Write it down and look at it everyday. Live your life with intention, with a purpose. Figure out what your purpose is. Only you can change yourself and make yourself happy. Find out what you have always wanted to do and do it. Good luck. And if you want more info let me know.

And stress doesn't help anything. Things happen for a reason and they will keep happening until you learn what you are suppose to learn. If you believe in God, give your stresses and worries to him. He is in control. Not you. You couldn't control the car accident because if you could, you wouldn't have had it. Not that God did that, life did, but it is a lesson you need to get. If you don't get it know, the lessons just get bigger and bigger. Love yourself enough to get the lesson now, not when it is too late.

You are so right. I am loving myself more these days and trying to take better care of myself and not speak anything negative and tell everyone around me not to be negative when they are around me and it has even helped others to be more positive. God is my light and it is shining brighter than ever. Thanks for all you words of wisdom. God Bless you.

I think that you are well on your way to maintaining a positive attitude because you can recognize when negativity starts slipping into your thoughts. Keep a journal and take note of what triggers the negative thoughts/feelings.
Meditation or even relaxation techniques can help restore your balance. Sometimes when we are overwhelmed with life and with you recovering from a car accident, I can imagine that stress may be a factor in your situation. Write down affirmations that you like and place them where you can see them. Call a friend that you feel has a positive attitude and arrange to meet them for lunch. Surrounding yourself with positive influences will add support to those moments when you feel yourself slipping into negativity.

Thanks for the advice, I can use all the help I can get. On a positive note I have returned back to work part time and that has really helped my state of mind and my purse. God has helped me to realize that he made me and he can put me back together. All negative thoughts are becoming a distant memory.

That is wonderful news! Yes, God has a way of picking us up and dusting us off doesn't He. You are so uniquely made, but isn't wonderful that One knows us better than we know ourself? I am happy to hear that you are feeling better! Be good to yourself!
