well ive had wonderful discussions in my college, with my engineering prof's who try to confuse the students if they dont know the right answer....
i kind of feel sorry for them, for the dressing down, i unfortunately cause them...so now i go to them in person after the lectures and express my doubts...this ensures that i dont cross any line...and still maintain cordial relations with them.
back in my school days i had an english prof who was hell bent on making life miserable for my entire class...my friends and i then really caused him a lot of trouble coz all of us were quite good and used to constantly argue our points....he never got beyond 5mins of teaching daily.....lol.

yes its not good to tease the students if they don't like. They have to see their capability of the students and should believe them of their good knowledge which their students had. I also had a same incident in my colleg days. Then i was student got first mark in that subject in my college, given him a big nose cut..

yes loads of times,
although i do it in a different way... i dont through it on their faces, i make them come out with what i want to say, that way you still get to remian the good student, but also put up a challange and win it ;D

Sometimes students pick up on the insecurity of a newer teacher, and those with bullying tendencies are inclined to take advantage of him/her. If you find you are subject to frequent challenges to your authority, you may want to think about ways you can behave in a more authoritative manner.
it happens due to negligence. of course students are not matured more thasn the teacher. with aexception..

that's great! you did good, i totaly agree to challengeing teachers,i'm in the 11 th grade now...and i have "discussions" with my math teacher, always disagree in stuff, but you know how they say "win some, lose some!" and i had both of them, only that when i lost, he made sure that i'll suffer for that lose(along the years i got only 2or 3 small grades for my mistakes). but nothing can make me more proud when i win! it's like wining milions of $.it's a special feeling that makes you think your someone...someone that steps out of the crowd, and make his point

Females can succeed in just as much as males. I hate teachers who think that women can't do science and math.
Also, just a suggestion...if you're going to discuss the fact that you did well on your board exams (congrats, by the way) and that you can do anything anyone else can do..please use proper English. No one will believe that you are intelligent if you use this slang and shortcuts for words. I could honestly barely read the post.

The most important thing is you have proved yourself that your teacher was wrong. You have proved that you are capable to get good marks. As to your friends' jokes, just ignore them. maybe they are jealus, that's all. Jealous people always do things in a funny way to hurt your feelings.

Yeah.. at college.. I was doing a first year course when i was in my final year, just to finish off some extra credits.. and it was the first day, i was late by 5 mins, walked in without permission and sat at the last bench.
and when i turned to look at him he was fuming.. gave me a lecture on late and not asking for permission and i gave him my reasons for both and eventually said sorry which cooled him down. then i sat down with knee taking support with the table and he started to give me a lecture and what not.. blah blah.. and eventually i told him he was unnecesarily making a mountain of a mole and infact it was not a mole because he shouldnt be concerned with how i sit, as long as i was not disturbing him. that shut him up for good.

i have also challenged the teacher but not like your way, it was a "C" programming challenge , there was a mistake in the program, i tried to tell it but my teacher refused the logical problem , i captured the program through my mobile phone, i challenged that it wont run you will get error, NEXT DAY my teacher gave the correct solution (as i was saying) .... thats it ....

Yes in college. I had this Philosophy teacher who always closes the classroom door when the class is about to start. Once, I still had a hangover from last night's drinking, I still went to class only to find the door closed because I was late. So I kicked it as hard as I can. My professor and my classmates where shocked but I just greeted them Good Morning. I never went back to that class after. The next semester, I was glad to take Philosophy again because it's going to be a different professor. But I find out later that my professor exchanged classes with another and guess who was my new teacher...Yes...

well, its a really strange theing to post, nice though!
so comingto the topic of the discussion, i would love to tell things personally, but i think i'll prefer keeping it short! yes, challenges always give a motivation... the biggest pleasures in ones life are to do the things which people say you cannot do. so i think its pretty good to have challenges and whenever you cannot find an external challenge, challenge your own self! you gain a lot even through that!
take care and keep posting...you seem to be new here, so welcome to mylot!!
