Can you fall in love with someone of the same gender without it being physical?

Personalities and qualities are an amazing thing that we are blessed with. And there have been instances that I know of where old school friends that decided to be gay would say a big reason they went that way is because they fell in love with somebody of the same gender, and it just felt right after awhile and the only awkwardness they felt is when they weren't sure of how the other person would respond. But they said they didn't feel a need to get physical with the other person, outside of the regular hugs they extended. I think when your feelings are involved eventually you want to show them eventually. I just thought the scenarios in themselves were interesting. What do y'all think?
