The Easter celebrations are over, but the influence of this „passion" time will stay, also in China. The key words are remission of sins and rebirth, for the repenting Christians. This Easter period of time reminds the Christians of the dying of Christ on the cross and his resurrection. Most important are Christ’s testimonies in his last words. This „assion events" are deeply engraved in western Art, Music, Morals, Law, including international Law, in Conflicts and War, in hatred (Jews) and in the way the Christians approach their own problems and world problems. All this touches also China directly and indirectly. It is not so, as was stated in a China Daily discussion Forum, that the influence of Easter on China is minor. If the pope has yesterday send his Easter wishes in mandarin also to the Chinese poeple, he reminded that China has more than 3 million of catholic faith, of a estimated total of Christians between 15 to 50 millions. Sending out his wishes from his tiny „Vatican state" within the town of Rome, in other languages, over nearly any Radio and TV station in Europe and elsewhere, showed also the power of the Catholic Church, who numbers about 1 billion people over the world or a little bit less than half the number of all Christians. On of 3 inhabitants of the world is Christian, one in 5 Muslim, one in 6 Hindu. The Easter passion concerns all Christians, not only the Popes Catholics. This are more than 2 billion which should not be taken lightly, as the 1.3 billion Chinese should not be taken lightly. If Chines like western classic Music, they should know that more than one third of this music of the greatest composers is related to the passion story. So also the art. But there is one influence of the Passion story of Christ which is not enough taken in account among non Christians. This are the Resurrection belief and the Remission belief of all sins. The Catholics, more than the Protestants believe, that: „By His death, Jesus destroyed death; by His resurrection from the dead, He grants forgiveness and eternal life to all who repent and desire God's gifts of love, life and salvation. Jesus saves all in creation that is worth saving. All of creation is transformed and renewed by the resurrection". All those reassembled on Easter day on the St. Peters Square in Rome, got from the pope a total remission of their sins This remission of sins and the promise of rebirth is in my view a main reason for the easiness which with Christians can sin, make war and the most horrible things, as they will be forgiven and even have a second life to make better. If this second life is only spiritual or also physical, is still not cleared among theologians, but with a clear tendency to physical resurrection. For your consideration
