It’s a hard aspect to approach. Do you make the child aware constantly that he/she was adopted? Or do you just let the child grow up naturally with the adopted parents? Do you know the parent or did she not want the child to ever contact her etc? Each person is different, however I myself, if I was told tomorrow (I’m 22) that I was adopted, and my parents aren’t mine, I’d be in shock naturally. Although above all I’d feel even more respect for the people that have brought me up despite ‘not’ being their child, I’d feel appreciative and very honoured to of had the opportunity to grow up under them. I suppose you have to make sure that the information is never going to come out under an angry situation.

I would say that the child shoudl always know that it is adopted because if it finds out when it is older then it may feel betrayed, like it has been lied to all its life. I think parents should try to be honest with their children wherever possible.
