inviting a family into your home for the holidays

This year my pastor asked me if my family could invite a widow and her children into our house for Christmas because they did not have anywhere else to go. I did not know her very well but I said yes. We had them over for dinner and my wife bought small gifts for her and her two children. They were very nice people and they were very grateful to us for having some place to go. I was very proud of my family for being very welcoming and offering to share everything. Have you ever done anything like this?

That is so great, it is good to hear stories like that, that goodness is still out there. We have not done that particular thing, but I donate time to the homeless shelter to serve food and give out clothing.
