The biggest loser: Do you have a relative who qualifies?

I do: my estranged father. Not only has he married and divorced at least 5 times, he has also involved himself with selling trailer homes, breeding horses to sell (however, they didn't sell and are eating him into utter poverty), pyramid and get-rich-quick schemes, but the icing on the cake is this:
While I was living abroad, I had tried to call my grandmother (his mother), several times, unsuccessfully. My father lives (scot-free, pardon the not-very p.c. expression) in her deceased mother's house next door (in southern Kentucky). I figured I'd try to send him an e-mail to ask my grandmother to get in touch with me (she didn't have her answering machine on at the time). So as I searched for his address, I found him on a site for 'Ukrainian brides'. There he was in full cowboy regalia (he spent the greater part of his life up here in Michigan and New York), boasting of his fidelity to family and partner. My good-ol', low-life, deadbeat, trailer-selling, hick of a father.
Can anyone top that???

Luckily I'm rather good with language, so once everyone has kicked off, I'll have a nice memoir with royalties to support me in my old age. (sarcasm, sarcasm)

You're laughing, but it sounds like a good idea. Either a book or a movie.

I can't think of anybody in my family who would be considered a big loser. There are people who are just plain weird, but not losers. Does that mean I am the one?
Your father sounds like the poster boy for Buyer Beware. Hey, I have a friend who might like to meet him!

Maybe I've been too harsh with you. I was just put off by the subject matter... truce?

I am very sorry...I can feel how bad it is for you and I can only imagine what it means to have a father like this..he makes lot of mistakes...he can make you angry and upset..people can yell at him..you can cry and shout...but he is your father.....it is love and hate and it is devasting..I hope you have found a good way to cope with all this amount of pain..I can only tell you that I can understand more than I can express...having problems with ones relatives it is devasting and you need all your strength to carry on. A big hug for you
