I saw this on yahoo news...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070103/ap_on_go_co/ellison_quran
"Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, will use a Quran once owned by Thomas Jefferson during his ceremonial swearing-in Thursday."
I saw this and I instantly thought, wow that is great. It is good to see that in our country people are allowed to have a different believe in religion. Do you think that an Islamic country would allow someone of a different religion to be in a seat of power?

It depends on the country, I would think. There are some countries that are very Christian, and you'd probably not see a non-Christian member of the parliament.
Maybe there already are Muslim nations with non-Muslim legislators? Egypt for example has a Coptic Christian community, perhaps they have a legislator who is from that sect.

well to say you the truth i would doubt this could happen...but then this would be very much a stereotype of talk....if that would happen the person would be controlled like a puppet or would be an underdog. i lived in a muslim country and quite frankly i dont remember there being a non-muslim in the higher sections of the government agencies like the Department of Health,etc...so forget abt the congress
