There are a lot of pinoy bands coming out with pretty much the same flavor and concept. You can't distinguish one from the other unless you're really into the band. I've been writing stuff about the scene for a year now on my friendster blog and have tried to analyze what is happening and whether it really is a resurgence of what happened in the 90's, when the Eraserheads started the outbreak of bands from left to right. Now, emerging bands are coming out of nowhere, armed a lot more material, a bigger and more accomodating audience and definitely a lot more genres that were almost non existent in the mainstream. I believe the scene, despite several hig's and lows, still is on a steady direction to improving the industry. Unlike before when every indie band was literally crawling to get their stuff heard on air, much less accepted by labels, now, technology has practically opened the doors for independent labels to dish out their own music, regardless of it being backed by major labels, or a marketing strategy to lure major labels to sign them up. Where is the Philippine alternative scene going to anyways? Do you think that this second wave is the realthing or it's just another phase which will eventually die out?
