Me and hubby went out the past 2 days with our metal detectors and have found a little over a dollar in change and a set of silver earrings, does anyone have any suggestions on where the best places to look are as we are new to this hobby.

It's the kind of hobby that is hit or miss, you are not going to find something everytime you go out. Try the parks, old homesites, beaches, anywhere people gather are good. Events are good places to go to, people are forever dropping things! take one day and play with the machines, gather all the metals you can and listen to the sounds each metal makes. drill it in your head. Make sure your discrimination is set low, make sure you are not discriminating out the gold! this is important for success! :) Set the sensitivity as high as you can without the machines going erratic. krissy

My dad and I love to go metal detecting. We usually go to the beach near where we live in the fall and winter when no one is there. You wouldn't believe all the things that people lose on the beaches. I have found necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and coins.

Take a drive one day and watch where people congregate. Sidelines on a ballfield, fairgrounds, etc.

I make about $5 on Sunday mornings after the ball games the night before,at our local school ball park.So just try some ball parks and see what happens, try picnic areas, small parks
