Well, since i'm quite new here, i'll be featuring a number of bands here in the Philippines so people from all over the world can check out their music. There are a lot of bands out there but I guess it's best to start out with some of the premier bands in the land, so who else but Bamboo comes into mind. Bamboo's music exemplifies the type of genre that speaks the minds and hearts of Filipino's as well as the new voice that started the second wave of pinoy bands. What's surprising about this group is the fact that most of the memebers came from the 90's band breakout started by now defunct, but still regarded as the one of the best, if not, the best pinoy alternative band to come out, the Eraserheads. Hits like Noypi, Hallelujah, As the music plays and These days taken from their debut album spear headed the bands grip as being called the premier rock band of this generation. Their new album Light. Peace. Love. which has an equally excellent number of hits which include F.U., Much has been said and Truth reflects a different side of the band, showing its versatility and resilience, in creating songs from all types of topics, themes and even emotions. Hearing their music is already addicting but seeing them play live is a better treat. Like a wild fire burning out of control, they connect to the audience like no one else. Bamboo, who happens to be the first name of the vocalist, usually performs without any shoes on , or maybe a pair of sandals would do, starting a fashion trend that i guess he himself didn't expect. Add to that a semi shaved head and a flamboyant, almost epileptic movement when he spurts his lyrics in front of the corwd that was pretty much copied by succeeding bands who look up to them. Bamboo is for real and their music will be regarded as good as its predecessors. Peace.

I like Bamboo, but there are other great pinoy bands as well. I personally like Urbandub, Up Dharma Down, Sandwich, the Itchyworms...I could go on and on. Thanks to Bamboo and these other artists, OPM was revived.

I agree with you. There's a lot of untapped talent that is slowly making themselves heard in the mainstream while still adheering to their "underground" or "indie" labels. I love the diversity of music coming out and that it has been gaining considerable fan following regardless of the genres being played.
