I have just been elected of our fire departments new women's auxiliary. We are a very small volunteer department and have been struggling for the last few years to make ends meet. It is my job to think of new ways that we can make money to help support the department financially. If you have any ideas please let me know. Serious ideas only please.

Hello there! Here is what I suggest:
1. Food Sale
2. Bake Sale
3. Dance-a-thon
4. Place donation cups in several stores/building (of course with permission) in your community
5. Have an Auction: Auction off dates for Valentine, Auction items that members bring from home etc.
If you need any more, let me know!!!

Thanks for your ideas, they all sound good. I may have a problem with the donation cans because we are in a rural community with no stores or shops. Thanks again.

Check with your local Outback Steak House. They have offers which you sell coupons for a steak dinner, they come, prepare the whole thing, clean up and everything. You must provide the place for it to happen (chances are if you're a fire department you have a place they can work), servers, sell your own soda and if you want have other fund raising going on (we did bake sales and chinese auction). You can make a huge profit, selling the dinners for $10 each. BUT YOU HAVE TO MOVE NOW TO GET ON THE LIST!!!!! Good luck!

Here's an idea that a local school had. They asked for donations from parents - things they would normally take to Goodwill or something. Nice throw-aways but not junky. Then someone would eBay the items. If there are a couple people with the know-how at your auxiliary meeting, it may make you a bunch of money. Especially if you get a lot of children's clothing, children's books and toys as donations.

i live in a rural community as well and what really works best here is dinner/luncheon. sell tickets to a plate lunch or sit down dinner. the biggest problem with the sit down dinner is that you need just as much money to pull it off. with a plate lunch you can get some places to donate the food and the plates/untensils. anyways hope you get some good ideas that can help.
you might also want to try a bake sale.
