Deep Purple - Child in time is one of my favourites.
Great Solo, great climax. One of the best songs ever recorded. Although I also like The End from The Doors a lot, it is a hard choise but i think i prefer child in time :)

It was great to be present at the concert in Saint-Petersburg last October. They all were wonderful. Ian Gilan bootless was like any Russian peasant, Roger Glover looked like pirat with his head kerchief. Amazing energy of powerful music in Purple-way! From the first song "Pictures of home" to the last "Hush" through "Smoke on the water" and "Highway Star" I relive all my youth feelings. Photo from that concert can be seen in Russian internet-site of Rocks-Radio Staition.

It is very, very hard to say what is my Deep Purple's favorite song. They have so many great songs. For instanse:"When the Blind Man cries","Soldier of Fortune","Keep on Movin'","Fire Ball","Love conquers All" and ets....None of them are so popular like "Smoke on the water" or Child in time" but they are great

I guess if I have to pick one song from the past it would have to be "Highway Star". But Deep Purple has had so many great songs over the years. My favorite current song by them is "Rapture Of The Deep".

I like to listen to soft rock and easy-listening songs on the radio. I like them all. They play Rod Stewart, Journey, U2, James Blount, Bob Seiger, Madonna, Cheryl Crow, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul, LeAnn Rhines, Advil Levene, and many others. I especially like songs with the words 'hold on' and 'I'm there for you'. They are very uplifting.

Smoke on the Water is a great song, but Purple produced better Speed King, Child in Time , Burn , Highway Star, but my all time favourite from them is from the MK 7 lineup - a song called Sometimes I Feel like Screaming - its on the Purpendicular album - it is simply awesome - great guitar work from Steve Morse and a little different from your typical Purple song (If they're is such a thing)

Smoke on the Water although great has become so synonymous, that it has lost its appeal. Child in Time is my favourite. The hairs on the back of my neck still stand on end at Ritchie's solo in the middle, even after 20 years of listening to it!

"Smoke on the Water" is an awesome song by one of my favorite all time bands. Gotta love Deep Purple! I also love "Hush" and "Highway Star" by them as well. As for my favorite song by my favorite band, that's a tough one. I listen to alot of diverse music and it's difficult to pick just one. For this though I'll choose two, "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult and "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen. Kind of fits the mood I'm in today...lol.
