Do your dogs have medication? How many times you bring them to the vet?

I love dogs and I treat them as my kids. I bring them to the vet every now and then for check ups. I only find it harder when I try to cut his nails because he dont like his paws touched. What about you? Does your does have medications? How many times you visit the vet?

I work for a dog and cat boarding and grooming company. We see many dogs and cats come in for boarding with medications. Sometimes it's an antibiotic for something temporary, but more and more often we are seeing dogs that need insulin for diabetes, phoenobarbital for seizures, or metronidozole for diarrhea. All of these animals are their owners babies and many of them become my babies as well. I try to keep up to date on their health (aside from their vaccines) and it just kills me to find out when one of them has a serious problem. I've shed many tears over the loss of a pet that wasn't my own.
Don't worry about the nail trims being a problem. Alot of dogs can't stand people messing with their feet and therefore can't stand having their nails trimmed. If it gets too hard, take your baby (pet) to the groomer for a nail trim. Sometimes when a pet knows you'll stop trimming nails or brushing them out if they resist a bit that one time, they'll resist even more.
With some dogs, grooming them is so difficult they need a sedative. The bite and scratch and thrash about, otherwise. But that is rare.

that's a good thing. They really need to be checked once in a while for their health. Thanks for your reply!

Yes, I have a little terrier that has Cushing's disease so I have to give her medicine twice a week to keep the Cushing's from getting too bad. She has no problem with me trimming her claws. We have to go to the vet about four times a year to get bloodwork so we can monitor her Cushing's. Since your dog is giving you a difficult time with the claw trimming what about taking him/her to a groomer or even the vet's office. Those folks have experience with things that our dogs/cats don't like.

Yes. I do that, everytime I bring him to the vet, I also have his nail trimmed but sometimes his nail grows fast. It's good to know that you don't have problem with trimming the nails of your baby. Hope she be well soon.

I have dogs on meds for seizures/arthritis/heart issues/etc. Start just touching her feet and associate it with a treat then intro the clippers just have them available at first then do one or two nails at a time, she should bet used to it pretty quickly((hug))
