Growing Air pollution and vechilure traffic in metros.

I am very much concern about growing Air pollution in metros / mega citys. Every time a traffic congestion is identified in any city, first thing the concern department thinks is to build a fly over bridge or to widen the existing roads thinking that Traffic conjestion will be reduced.But they never think that they are not addressing the root cause of Traffic congestion.Government should not think of commercial gains at least when it thinks of Vechile Traffic. In my view government should take following steps then Traffic congestion will be reduced also helps to reduce Air pollution there by saving huge amount of government expenditure on public health and can have healthy citizens who can work towards progress of the nation. 1. Government should bring awerness in public to use more public Transport rather than personal vechiles. 2. Government should reduce Road Transport passenger Fares to minimum low, so that every citizen is attracted to use public Transport. 3. Government should provide Buses for all catogaries of Passengers, like for executives Air conditioned luxury buses, some quick service buses which have minimum halts so that passenger can travel in emergency times. 4.Road Transport vechiles should maintain Time tables and strictly follow them (In normal Traffic times at least) 5. By reducing passenger fares, and improving facilities in transport and maintaining Time scheduls promptly can definetly pay dividents to government because ther will be increased occupency ratio.Personal vechiles will be reduced on roads, People will use Public transport more they will use less taxis, in phased manner Taxis plying on roads will be reduced because Government can reduce fares of public transport to very low giving subsidy to Road Transport organisation but Taxis cannot reduce taxi fares and run taxi on losses, resulting in less vechilure traffic on city roads, leading to less air pollution, resulting in Healty citizens. Writing my views, i am not against any private transporters but public health and congestion free traffic is My Aim and should be every ones also.Government should not think that it will face huge revenue loss if it is compensating Road Transport (Public Transport)the loss of revenue, in return govenment will gain because it can avoid to take up flyover projects at least some of them, public health is taken care off, Air pollution will be in control. Government should think of future and take necessary steps ,building flyover bridges is not the solution for Traffic problems.
