read this article: http://www.heritage.org/Press/Commentary/ed081304a.cfm it was first published as an opinion piece in the asian wall street journal. the analysis on chinese leadership power plays is very interesting and probably accurate. but if you read further, you'll see that the authors give some pretty disturbing recommendations that could make the situation worse, not better. in the same way that china's military overtones boosted the prospects of independence-minded twanese, military aggressiveness on the part of the u.s. and asian allies could give ji@ng a boost in the prc. i say "hands off" in terms of military threat. i endorse fighting injustice with words and information, but not with this type of military posturing. bad advice from the heritage foundation.
