HPV and cervical cancer

Tomorow I have to go in for a biopsy to test for cervical cancer. This will be my second one. The first one was six months ago and I got the results 2 weeks AFTER I lost my insurance (my soon to be ex-husband lost his job and thus, our health insurance). It has taken this long to get things squared away again. The first biopsy showed pre-cancerous cells. I am so scared that after 6 months, it has progressed and I won't be able to have the simple office proceedure to take care of it. The reason they tested for it in the first place was because I had an abnormal pap that showed HPV. A nice little present from my husband. I had NO idea about HPV or that it could lead to cervical cancer. The "Tell Someone" campaign really brought it out in the open and I'm grateful that doctors are now testing for it. Make sure YOU ask your doctor to test you for it at your annual exams and if you're a guy and you have it, make sure you tell your partner BEFORE it is too late. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had pre-cancerous cells removed and if it was successful, etc. I am terrified. Not about the proceedure itself, but what might show up. -- oh and no, the HPV or the losing the job was NOT the reason for my husband and I seperating. We were already seperated when he lost the job, though he was going to keep me on his health insurance until the divorce was final (it is still pending).

Any results back on the test? I just came across this discussion. My niece has had to have surgery to freeze and remove part of her cervix for the same reason. It is pretty scarey. Keep me posted.
