Well obviusly it harms the music creator, but the money for a disc is just a little bit too high.
On the other hand sites like itunes solves most of the problems in buying adisc..
So what are you doing with it?
Buying songs/disc or downloadind?
Can you consider song download as a crime?

I only download what I can't find in Canadian music stores. Most of the stuff I download is from Russia, but I've downloaded less since discovering http://www.russiandvd.com Now I can buy originals of what I am looking for.

downloading music illegally is obviously a crime, and just imagine how badly the publisher is affected...
its like the same concept of you working one full month and not getting paid a penny at the end of the month..feels horrible isn't it??
the prices may be a bit high and i think the publishers should set reasonable prices and most of the piracy problems should be solved..but still, piracy is a crime no matter what..no matter how high the discs are priced, either you buy it and listen, or you dont!

I dont download music because I am not a music loving person. I love reading and for me books are very important. So I download books of the net.
Regarding your view whther is legal or not.. it aint legal , I know that and I dont think it is the right thing to do.
I have bought a lot of books, but I found no book was worth its price because a book cannot teach you everything. The author is good at some topic so it is covered really well for others you have to go back to another book.
That was about the books. I dont see any problem with a person downloading the song off the net.
IF the companies have a problem, they should consider making it so cheap and available in a better quality, then people will rather buy and do the right thing. They over price things which I see as wrong.
