Over Incubus' music career, they've had two really good bassists. The first was Dirk Lance and after the Morning View album came Ben Kenney for A Crow Left of the Murder. I wanna know which you guys like more?
I personally might have enjoyed Lance's bass lines more than Kenney's because he seemed to give all of the other instruments more room to breathe; take the spotlight, and when it was his turn, he kept things simple and catchy.
Kenney's bass riffs are much more complicated and "guitar-player" like. When I say that, I mean his basslines are much more melodic and as they bring Incubus into a new sound, I think some songs are weakened by it.
Don't get me wrong, I dig everything this band has done, I'm just curious what you guys think!

Ow I didn't even know they switched! I liked more the album morning view than a crow left of the murder, I've played it so much, so I think the old one. Still I'm gonna listen again and hear to the bass now, thanks for this update for me! :)

you're rite man,,,,i prefer dirk lance plays,,,coz basicly,,he's a bass player,,,but Ben kenney used to be a guitar's player,,,so his touch like a playing guitar,,not as a bass player,,,but in style i prefer ben kenney than dirk lance,,,he's more awesome

Well both of them are good coz they got into the band but Dirk Lance is the original bassists thats why he left his own trademark and style in incubus' music, well don't get me wrong I love both of them but personally I like Ben Kenney's bass chops more coz its sounds more groovy to my ears and it elevates incubus' music into a different level well ar least that's my opinion...nevertheless they are both great

well i think ben kenney is a better bassist as he can slow himself down and do things the way dirk lance did (and dirk can't do vice versa). but dont you think that it is a bit necessary for him to be doing all those fancy 'bassing' to cover up for rhythm cause mike is concentrating more on weird yet good sounds lately.. in ACLOTM, ben was somehow suppressed a little bit cause there was still some dj-ing by kris, and more rhythm were in their songs. in Light Grenades however, there has been more complicated songs and Ben was able to merge with it. well overall i like the fact that they have ben because he impresses me so much with his bass skills. i am a bassist and a vocalist and i really am impressed by the band so much. INCREDIBLE SKILLS!

I don't know, because for me they are too different to compare each other...
When there was Dirk the sound was another...
And now, for the recent music from Incubus, I think that Ben is better is more "clean"...
