A Friend of mine has started a discussion about the Bashing of Americans on here lately
Now what he has written is totally true and I fully agree with him on it
He now feels awful for having written it
To me he is right in everything he has said and I could not have put it any better
He is a great Guy and as far as I am concerned what he has written is so true
I have told him not to feel bad as it is true
There are People here at the moment that are trying to turn mylot into a war Zone and some of my Friends have made that comment to me as well
Do you think that my Friend should feel awful as I don't

I saw that discussion as well, and I do not see why he should feel bad about posting it. He made some excellent points in the discussion. I live in the USA and I see a lot of the problems here first hand. But it is not as bad a place to live as other countries. And I appreciate him standing up for what he believes to be true.

Americans are fairly thicked skined. It is a necessary requirement of having Freedom of Speech.
Evaluating critism is how America continues to evolve and improve as a country.
Your friend is more than welcome to bash America. It is a right protected by law here.
As long as your friend does not advocate the violent overthrow of the government he is OK.

Thanks, for the clarification. The reasons I misunderstood are:
1) The link to the orginal discussion was not up yet when I posted.
2) Just like you I could not even imagine that anyone would feel bad about what your friend had posted. So, before seeing the post, I assumed he had bashed America.
Sorry about that and thanks for the correction.

we are all entitled to our opinion and I would never purposefully pick on anyone.
There are a lot of confused people in this world but criticism isn't always helpful if it's directed as someone who is trying to understand a situation.
I don't think I have seen this discussion although I may have replied to something about "bashing" yesterday but I'm not sure who was being bashed.
If I upset anyone I apologise, it is not intentional, just how I see things.

He shouldn't regret it at all. His post was very P.C. and intelligent. I had tried to say the same thing myself but didn't express myself as well as he did. Unfortunately his post won't make the blindest bit of difference because some people are too wrapped up in their own radical opinions and forcing them down others necks to pay heed. The rest of us just need to try to ignore all of those posts and try and lighten the atmosphere with our own topics.

Do you mean he is bashing americans in his discussion or he is just talking about people who bash americans?? I am an American and if he is bashing us then he needs to go somewhere. I don't get on here and talk about Iraqi's or Indians unless I am responding to a discussion of which that is the topic. I don't think there is a war being started on here. At least not yet.

No, I do not think your friend should feel awful. He should feel free to express his thoughts. I assume he is an American and as such, he has a right to defend his nationality. There is a lot of bashing going on here, and to a point that goes with the territory. However, we should all be able and allowed to defend ourselves.

No I think he done the right thing thats why this is a discussion I beleive that he only feels bad because of what others are saying about it this only proves what he posted to be that much more truer because everybody would have had a normal reaction on it if it wasn't true so he should be proud of his self he only spoke about what was on his mind and how he felt,no worries here I am an American and I think some of us are abit strange LOL so tell your friend no worries hold his head high and be proud.

I am personally getting tired of people making MYLOT a political war zone. Not only are they causing havoc, but they are showing their extreme hatred for Americans. I happen to love America and Americans, and I really wish more of us would stand up and either report abuse (if needed) or let them know it will not be tolerated. Where is your friends link by the way?

Hey Gabs!
No, Steve puts forward some great discussions. I read that one, and didn't comment because of the awful responses he received.
He's not the one at fault here, Gabs, and he certainly shouldn't feel bad about his post. The respondents are the ones at fault. Very difficult to steer away from that sort of thing, but go Steve... you're just great at this stuff!!! My rating for him is that he's a Brilliant *****.
Well said, Gabs. :-)

Your friend should not feel awful for what he wrote as I to have noticed all the articles and they bother me. I try to avoid them and have just been trying to think of something to say myself. What he did was very helpful to a lot of people out there and he should be patting himself on the back. Tell your friend not to feel awful.

Hello again Gabs, i need to read his line of comments and responses and then i will be back to comment. I know we Americans have a lot of bad qualities. If it is the truth then let it be said. Dont feel badly about it. I will speak my mind trust me.

No apology necessary....I'm not American, but I am soooo tired of the hate mongering. As a matter of fact I think I even posted a comment myself.
I try to avoid those posts like the plague but if I do run into one, I am reporting them.
This is supposed to be a fun place
