My friend has a cat who is Pregnant. The cat was in labor a few days ago. Her water bag broke and she began to bleed, but she was not contracting and no kittens seemed to be coming out. She began going through the normal process of having her babies, then all of a sudden everything stopped. My friend thought she was going through pre-mature labor. Then she said she saw a piece of flesh, but this time she saw what it was. It was the lower portion of a newborn kitten (Only the legs)!!!!!! My friend thinks she ate the baby!!!! Does anyone know if this is normal? She felt the stomach of the pregnant cat and she still felt movement inside since all this began but she has not had any more baby kittens. She called the vet but they were really no help. They just told her to take the cat to the emergency Vet hospital and they can give her a c-section. Did you know it costs about $1000. for that procedure? I guess she won't be doing that. So that is why I am asking to see if anyone has experienced this before and if you know do cats normally eat their young?

I think that if an animal senses that there is something wrong with their young they will eat them. I hope the mama cat will be OK and the babies will be fine.
