is it an invasion of privacy?

the recent blogging trend has just given rise to this doubt in my mind-is this an invasion of ones privacy?earlier a few sites allowed you to control who was visiting your profile and reading your messages. but now any random person has full access to all your personal information..are you all comfortable with that? to some extent i am, but i wanna know your take on this.
