Is the Ten Comandments relevant for today?

With all the clatter going on about seperation of church and state, the constant battle to remove The Ten Comandments from the court room, do you believe the Ten Comandments are relevant to our everyday life. What was the reason for the Ten Comandments and does it hold eternal coniquences for man if we do not keep them.

i have to say the ten commandments are relevant to today. there are consequences if we don't follow them. the purpose of the commandments are to keep us in line with God and keep order here on earth. i see them as a guidelines.
