Are you keeping the world clean ?

This is a very good discussion. In fact, one of my last classes I had to take to graduate from college was public speaking. One girl did a awesome presentation on littering, recyling and why and how we need to all pitch in. I wish I remember the statistics, they were astonishing. I shocked to hear how bad these problmes have gorwn over the last 10 years! We have many ways of recyling in our community. You can put all recylable plastic, magazine, paper, glass, aluminum cans, etc into one box. set it on the curb on designated pick up night and they sort it for you! Any carbonated beverages have a nickle deposit on them, which you do pay for when purchasing, but get your nickle back when bringing them back to any of the redemption places. As in my last post...freecycle website! It is great for getting rid of item you may normally throw away. So your bed sheets are worn and may have holes and stains, someone may use it for paint clothes. Same with any clothes, fabrics, someone may want them for a quilt or other crft project. There are many collectors out and about always looking for those strange items...you never know! Around here, if caught littering, even cigerretes butts you get fined $100 PLUS clean-up, disposal fees, and court costs. It is a crime, it is gross, looks bad in your yard and community...Clean it up! Can't remember where I heard this similar saying but....We are here borrowing the land from our next of kin, lets save some of the resourses and keep it clean for the future generations!!! CC

Well doing our bit to keep the world cleen is ok but we also need to do our bit on recycling. There is a limit to the resources in this planet and if we use without recycling we will soon runout of resources. Recently there was an article in the paper that the worlds supply of werlishj gold has runout. now this is a type of gold which is costlier than platinum. soon we will be readinbg such articles abou othrt resources a well. That is if we dont do something soon.

Hi! I hate to see a diaper in a parking lot or a soda can on the banks of a river. I always clean up my trash. I think it's so rude and thoughtless to leave trash, especially in lakes and rivers where animals have to deal with it and possibly get hurt. I care about the planet and I think everyone should be cleaning up their trash, too.

sure ! i can tell you more.. i'm a fisherman, and sometimes on the riverside i find plastic, cans.. i have a bag where i put all and then take to the near trash point. i love nature.

You are talking to the garbage control queen. I panic every time I see someone throw something out of their car window!! Back in high school, I used to take my friends by their hands and lead them to the trash bin to dispose their trash when they thought it was just "too far." The world is not going to clean itself, that's where we come in. But not many people care about the damage it can cause.

i am allways trying to keep everything clean..i never leave my garbagges around!i am with idea that the world must be cleaner.

My better half mostly takes out the trash. I help out whenever possible.

I always clean up after myself no matter where I am. I don't want waste floating around. I put my garbage into a bag, and then dispose of it into a large pail to be picked up. What do you do?

I usually to keep the sites that i have been in order to keeping clean the space, i dont like to see dirty the places, have a nice day on mylot and happy earnings also.

im doing everything i can the keep my part of the world clean at least some of it.i dont liter i put trash were it belongs an not on the ground

yes,I always do that.whereever I see any garbage i put it immediately in the waste basket and try to keep the surrounding clean.we all must follow this strictly.It is our joint responsibility to keep our city clean.

I certainly try my best. I always clean up any garbage spills or any mess that I or my family makes. I always make sure my kids pick up trash too. I think it is an important lesson for them to learn.

Hi there. This is a good discussion. I also would like to add an extra thing. Some people do throw garbage out the window while their driving the car. If the drink a bottle of water they may throw the empty bottle out the window. That's not very nice to do. Becuase it polutes and it doesn't look very nice either. So please keep a bag or something in your car and put the garbage there. And when you stop, look for a garbage-can and throw it in there.

I agree, it's so easy for one to clean up after one, not leave a huge mess behind when say on outings.

i believe we all must do our own part in saving the planet. We reuse plastic bags and use them as trash bags and even plastics from veggies, we also re-use them. we also segregate our trash so it will be much easier for the garbage collector.

I am very strict when it comes to littering and throwing the garbage. I'd rather fill my bag with wrappers and trash than to throw it anywhere. Then when I see a trash can I empty my bag. I believe that taking care of the environment starts from as simple as this--throwing our garbage properly. If only all people get this environmental awareness, this world would have been a better place to live.

yes i do try to keep the world as clean as i can somtimes i get very mad when i see people that do not care and throw everything like the world is a big trash can i do adore our cleaning and garbage man for doing this hard job and i do hope that people would be more and more aware how important it is to live in a clean environment:)

Yes my friend a very intresting point which you have raised as garbage dumping is one of the most important issues faceing the world and yes i do take care of the points you have mentioned and i even segrigate bins in my house and office for recycle and toxic waste and where ever i go i discourge people to use lower quality unrecycleable products like paper bags in place of plastic bags , keep the parks clean and where ever i can i try to but it has to spread and nothing better then you starting it thank you for this discussion

the only real way to keep the world clean is to stop using cars. but i'm afraid people would rather give up their life than their car.
