Is their too much violence in video games? Personally, I think its perfectly fine.. But it is the parents fault, and the games fault that people do this. If the kid doesnt have very much of a good education, Or his parents dont sit down and tell him why its not okay to walk down the street and beat someone across the head with a hammer, They are gonna think "hey, if they can do it in video games withought getting in trouble, maybe i could do it in real life and not get in trouble" It doesnt mean that they would even actually do that, Because if someone actually thought something like that, They would most likley snap and go crazy at some point anyway. The video game isnt the problem, Parents not teaching thier children what is wrong and what is right is the problem. I play Halo 2, Halflife and stuff like that, But, That doesnt mean that i'm gonna grow up and shoot lazer missles down the street to stop the covanent armada. So really, I think its fine for kids to play violent videogames. Even my parents knew that. They told me countless times that its not okay to shoot four people because i saw it on TV or a video game. I also feel that all those people who flip out over video games, Are getting way too pissed about quite small things, There are worse stuff for those types of kids, and any other kids to do then play GTA. There are alot worse things.

I'm the same way. Unless a kid has had a very poor upbringing, they should be able to tell reality from fantasy and understand that what's okay in a video game or movies isn't okay in real life. Kids aren't as stupid and impressionable as a lot of parents like to think. Violent games are fantasy. Just fantasy. They aren't real. Any kid over the age of seven should know the difference. If they don't, there's a problem. And it's not with the video games.

I agree, i play gta etc and i find it fun and a great way to just relax. If kids can't differentiate between fantasy and reality than i really think there is something psychologically wrong with that child. People may blame crimes on video games etc, but where are the parents, friends etc in all of this?

I agree to this.It totally depends on how a child has been brought up,bacause games can't be realistic without effects. That is where all the fun is.when you can't do sumthing in real life you can try them out in a game.I've been palying game such as quake and doom3,where blood and gore effects are tremendous, but never effected me negatively.although there should be limit for playing games all the time...

I completely agree, that's why I monitor what games my kids want, and if the games are Mature or Teen (for my 10yr old) then they just don't get them....period! It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure their kids aren't playing approriate games for the age level.

They definately need parental control. Same here when I see a game for mature I just won't buy them, even though he will be screaming all my friends play this!! Too bad kiddo!

I think that as long as the person playing the game can tell the difference between the games and real life, then it's ok. But it's also up to the parents to relay to the child that they are only playing a game, and that life in the real world is not the same as in the game. And that the parents should pick out appropriate games for their child, and if they are to buy games with violence, at least play the game with the child and explain the situations that come across in the game.

i belive there is in games like grand theft auto and mafiaetc. some ppl dont think its significant but still a child's mind absorbs everything he sees so indirectly this might be realy dangerous for the society

if some parents think that if we get games which contains violence then we will do the same. if thats what they think then they got no brains.we children dont copy anyone we all got our own sweet style.thats just stupid we are educated kids atleast most of us are we just play violent games cuz we like those types of games its just fun.its not that if they rob banks in a special and a planned manner in games we will also do that.games are like dreams do anything you wans meet anyone you like.its just that we rule in games and dreams.its just part of our childhood.so i think GTA rocks.

I too agree with you. It is not the games which make a bad effect on child's growth. But there must be a certain age while parents should give permission to their childrens to have violence games. It is not only the fact. They should also include learning and mind twisting games so that the child would not get fastened to play violence games. When the child is not in the age to understand what is right and what is wrong at that conditions parents should take care the most. At this age they should be allowed to play violence game as less as possible.

There has always been violence in games from the time of the 1st Zelda, Contra games. The difference is how real looking the games are now. I think that's what frightens parents. Maybe when you play violent games using your old nintendo famicom they won't even notice it but when you play it using the latest hardware and they look at the tv and see how real the game is they'll immediately tell you to stop. My dad specially hated GTA. I agree with him though, no need to elaborate because we all know what kind of game GTA is. But that's the reason why video games are called "entertainment." It's almost the same as watching a rambo or even lord of the rings movies or any form of violent media. The only difference is that in video games we act on it. I guess it all boils down to what kind of life we have. I have a friend who is a fanatic of NFS and whenever we'd drive one of my sports cars around town he'd keep on telling me to try and drift. I just ignore him. I'm an avid video game fan but I'm not stupid. Some people don't know when to separate their video game fantasies from reality and that's dangerous.

I dont think there is too much violence in video games. I do think however that there is poor monitoring of parents when it comes to the kiddos. The violence is relative, as long as kids 18 and younger are not playing them.

Well there is some sort of violence in the video games but it depends how one takes it. Video games are just for the sort of entertainment and not to be taken out personally to repeat the stunts in the real life or real world. Like in a video games shown that you are killing some one with bullet, that you can't do in practice. In this regard parents must take care of their children and should nourish them in such a ways only.

I think the games are fine if your not old enough to no that you can't do everything a game does your to young to play that game.

I think that is to much violence..it isn;t normal that a 5 years old child fight in that games with monsters,or even human being and feel pleasure when he kills them. It's not only a game, through it tha child learns incontient to be violent.I remain at my opinion, that childhood must be a period of harmony and nothing else.

There is nothing wrong with violence in video games and i don't think it makes any kind of difference in peoples life. As far as parents view is concerned, they ask their kids to avoid playing violence games because they are concerned about their kids. They have a feeling that their kid may turn out to be violent. I feel violence makes you mature to the outside world. I like playing games that are violent in nature and which also test your agility as well as ability. One such game is Prince of Persia...great game, great graphics and great planning in creating levels...Must play
