Could you have jumped down on the tracks of a oncoming train?

Have you heard the story of the man in NY that saw a man having a seizure and had fell onto the subway tracks??? WOW, is all I can say. He left his own two girls on the subway platform and jumped down onto the tracks to try to save this guy. The guy fights back and is to heavy for him to lift. There is a train coming so he rolls him into a two foot wide little trench...covers him with his body and the train rolls over the both of them!!! WOW....could you have done that for a complete stranger? Or would you have known what to do? What would you have done in that instance? ME?...in all honesty...I think I would have just stood there and screamed uncontrollably...or passed out from sheer fright.
