What is the most you've spent on buying a dog. A certain breed. I want to get a toy yorkie and i've heard that they are about 600$, so i was trying to see if that was unheard of. I dont really know how much full breeds go for, some one got a chiwawa(sp) for 3,000$ .....thats alot! Anyway i was wondering what dog you have and how much they costed you.

600$ for a toy yorkie is backyard breeder price. A healthy Yorkie from a reputable up-and-up breeder is well into the 1000s. They're designer dogs, and very expensive. For 600$ you'd be running the risk of an inbred, unhealthy or non-purebred animal. You need to be very, very careful when it comes to dogs. I've done a lot of work with dogs and owned a lot of dogs - purebreds from respected breeders, rescues from backyard breeders and shelter mutts. I always recommend the shelter mutts.
Also, be warned, even Yorkies from good breeders are at a high risk for a lot of health problems. Most of the small, designer dogs have a lot of breathing, skin and ear problems.

You're more than welcome! If you're going to go with a backyard breeder, just do some research on them first. Some of them are fine and breed healthy dogs, but a lot like to cut corners which harms the animal.

I have a Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog). We paid $250 USD for her. I have also looked into Yorkies and have found prices ranging from $500.00 USD to $1500.00 USD. If you look online at Yorkie Breeders you can even find some as high as $3000-$4000 USD.!!!!!!

I have spent around 500 sterling (english pound) for a rough collie imported from UK. Besides the intial sum you have to take in considerations vets, injections, medicine, food etc which do amount to a quite large amount of money if you calculate that a dog might live up to 10 years of age.

My dog that I have now is chihuahua and I paid $800 plus $300 to have him flown to me. They can be expensive but I feel that they are worth every penny. I would not trade my Inky for anything in the world. Mine is AKC registered and there others out there that would not cost as much but I would do some checking on them before spending my money.

I have a yorkie and he was about 950.00 he's around 6.5lbs, he is 8 years old. He's pretty healthy and very active. I recommend you read about them and make sure you have good information on the person you are purchasing it from.

The most I spent for a dog was for a lowchen he was hopefully to be a show dog but did not turn out he cost 1,500 ,Most well breed chihuahuas run between 800 to 1000 here. I don't mean tea cups I don't like those thats a made up name used to sell them higher don't believe me check out the chihuahua club of america web site for the myth of the tea cup .Used to breed and show then since around 87 .

I had two Pomeranians. Both AKC registered but not show quality. In fact they were a couple from the backyard breeders types that someone mentioned here. They both had the same dad but different mothers. We paid $500.00 each and thought that was a terrible price at the time which was 17 years ago, but we had to buy them because we made the mistake of holding them and falling in love. With the second dog, my little black that I named Talitha, I actually managed to put her down and leave but then had to go back and buy her less than 30 minutes later since both my daughter and my husband pleaded and cried [my daughter, not my husband, he only said that it was ok with him]. So, we ended up with $1,000.00 worth of dog. And wow, did we ever love them the entire time that we had them. Both dogs have gone to doggie heaven since then unfortuntately. I had my Talitha for 14 years and I had my red dog Puff for 15 years. Dogs bring so much love into your life.
