Deleting friends

United States
January 4, 2007 6:38pm CST
I'm sorry to have to do it, but I'm bored with getting tons of notifications asking me if I like iPods or did I eat breakfast today from people who rarely answer the responses in their own posts and sure don't seem to respond to mine ever. Thank you to all the good friends I have met and gotten to know a little bit about. You know who you are (or should at least) and I look forward to reading your latests thoughts, posts & replies. Anybody else weeding out the trash lately?

Yes, I did a bit of weeding today. I deleted a few people from my friends list, and deleted lots of requests. I just don't think I have anything in common with these people so I don't feel bad about it. I have a couple of friend requests pending and I'm going to leave them there now to see what sort of things the post about. If they don't interest me I won't add them. What's the point? :/

Bet it's the same one I deleted for the same reason. A link in every single post. Rarely answered responses to his own posts, etc. It's a wonder he's got an account all the spamming he does.

I no longer see the point either. I also realize we're pretty much all here for the money, but if we reply to the nonsense, and keep taking on nonsense, one-way friendships, the fun of MyLot then becomes work and this is my release from my work, ya know? So far I've only deleted 4 people, but I have a feeling there's more to come. Thanks for stopping by, B.B.

I just deleted another one this morning because all he does is post about money, how to earn money, how to earn more money, how much money do you want etc. And he never replies to any of my topics. I don't even have to worry about him seeing this post because I think he's so wrapped up with money that he doesn't bother to look at anyone elses posts either.

That's resonable ,i think. It seems that more and more poor posts here, just a little like spam. Some others sent many short question as thier posts. That's so boring for others!

Yeah, I agree, there are a lot of people just posting whatever mundane question that pops into their minds for the money. Sure, we're all here earning a little, but some of that crap is ridiculous.

As far as friends go before I accept them I look at their profiles and posts. Then I decide to accept or deny. I don't have a ton of friends and so far I have not deleted anybody or checked if they answer to my posts. I usually answer questions if I am interested in the subject regardless of who posts them. I guess that is the reason in part that my point count is so low.

Yeah, that's where I went wrong. Accepting everyone who requested. I'm done with that scene, believe me. Thank you for your input, I appreciate you stopping by.

Dont feel too bad, I did the same thing a few days ago. I accepted many friends when I started out on MyLot not looking at their posting behaviour. After some investigation, I decided to delete some "weeds" from my friends list, as I could not associate myself with their type of posts. By doing this, I believe, we will strengthen the MyLot community of credible posters and get rid of the spammers!

I agree wholeheartedly! I feel if people ignore the spammers and idiotic posts maybe they will give it up and act like they have a bit of common sense. Thank you for stopping by, your support is very much appreciated.

Yeah, no sense in keeping in contact with people you have nothing in common with. Thank you for taking time to come in and speak your piece.

Interestingly, I ate my Ipod for breakfast. It was my favorite color too, purple. I'm kinda picky about my friends list, so I haven't had to do any weeding.

Well, for one, thank you :) For another, I'll tell ya this: you played it smart from the get-go. You saved yourself a bit of future aggravation by playing picky. Thanks for stopping by.

I did a couple of days ago. I think I was up to 37 friends and a few of them had meaningless discussions. So frustrating! So I deleted them. I have 2 requests for friends now, and I looked at their profile and I don't think I have anything in common with them.

Thank you for sharing. I am going to start doing that. I do it at MySpace, I should do it here as well. Saves trouble of deleting them later, lol.

I have went through and deleted friends that have not logged in in a month. I think it is safe to say, they are done. I also deleted one that I found was copy and pasting.

Don't blame ya. The very first time I deleted a friend was due to cheating. The girl was posting the same thread every day...ironically, the thread was about cheaters, go figure. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate your support.

friends - coming in all shapes and sizes, colors and creeds
So far my friends have provided me with plenty of posts to answer and a few to learn from. I have then notify on and that helps me to be able to answer my friends as they post a discusssion. I don't answer every one however I answer any that I have any information for. I hope you take care and do get the quality that you are looking for!!

Yeah, I've delete my fair share of people. The main reason, because everytime I go to the, my friends discussions, option I see the same posts with their 900th response. Naturally I have to delete them for the simple fact that I want to get rid of that post for good!

Yes, I've had to turn off and on some of my friends notifications lately. That's one of the new features that I've enjoyed. If I get bored again, I can turn the notify me for some of the friends back on or off at any time. Its really a great feature. Doesn't hurt to go through your friends list and change them up once in awhile. Its great to have friends...don't you think.

You are so kind-hearted, which is probably why I'm growing to like you so quickly. I will admit, turning them off had occured to me, but I'm not as nice as you are, lol. Cheers to you, Juls :)

Well, for me, I don't really need to do any weeding out, because: * Some I already knew from other sites & forums * Friendships started from posting in each other's discussions or the same discussion by others I admit that I rarely start discussions because every idea i thought of, someone else, whether a friend or someone I don't know on MyLot, had already started the topic. Therefore, instead of starting a topic, I just jump in & hope i don't say something dumb that will give me the expression on my face of my avatar.

Well, today, you were my victim. It seems that what I have been doing these past few days is finding an interesting topic to post in, & then I start going thru that person's discussions & posting something that looks like I need to say something in. It's probably you (assuming that's really a pic of you) that caused the place to feel nice & warm & fuzzy.

I hear ya, I'm not a big topic starter either. More of a reply-girl, here, lol. That's the whole idea of friendship, getting to know one another. I understand people are posting for money, but they don't seem to understand that they get paid for responses too. Thanks for taking time to come in and share some things about your MyLot experience.

I so agree. I had to de-friend the girl who kept posting "Do you love me?". HELL NO, I don't love you, I don't even know you, and by the way, that grainy thumbnail pic does you no good either. I do breathe air, I have eaten today, and I am not sad. GOOD GOD! If you have nothing intelligent for a topic, just respond to the topics of others. I really only ask people to be my friend if I see then can make an intelligent, quality response. I feel your frustration.

I weed people out all the time. I hate to open up to MyLot and have 100 new requests a day. They never even answered one of my posts, and I don't know how they picked me. What's a friend for, if you aren't going to correstpond.

You have a point. A good portion of my friends' rankings haven't budged for weeks. Must mean they aren't posting at all. Mainly I was griping about the ones that post drivel all day long then never maintain their own discussions or bother to answer anyone else's. Thanks for stopping by tho, your point and your input are appreciated.
