People who walk their dogs, please clean up after them.

I have seen a lot of pet owners walking their dogs. You can always spot the ones that clean up after their pets. They carry a plastic bag with them. What makes me angry are the people who walk their dogs and let them do their duty on other people's lawns and they do not clean it up. Even worse are the people who let their dogs poop on school playgrounds or other public places. Owners need to be more responsible for their pets. Please clean up after them.

Here in the UK it's mandatory in most places that owners 'scoop the poop' .. I live in a very small rural village but even here we have a £1,000 foine for those caught not pooper scooping ... and yes .. most of the dog owners have pockets full of little plastic bags ready to scoop ... we also have special doggy doo bins around the village too which are emptied regularly ..

With the bins on nearly every corner in our town, people still don't bother.

There are fines in place here too for people who let their dogs foul the pavements but I've never actually heard of a fine being imposed on anyone. I see lots of people out with their dogs and they don't clean up after them.

I've never seen another person clean up after their dogs but I always did. Saying that, my dog was wierd about going outside so I didn't have to do it much :) I used to work with a woman who had two dogs and she told me one day that she let her dogs poop in her own neighbour's gardens every time they went for walks. I couldn't believe it! I also knew a family that lived over another house, the one upstairs had a balcony and the one downstairs had a small garden. The family upstairs let their dog poop on the balcony and would throw the poop over the balcony wall and into the garden below in the middle of the night when noone could see them and the family underneath would have to clean it from their garden. Some people just don't care what they do.

I agree if you own a dog either let them go in your fenced in back yard, and you can deal with it their which ever way you please, or pick up after your dog. I own a dog and I pick up after him. However were I live there are still people that don't, really ticks me off especially when I almost step in it.

I walk my dog and clean up after him. City hall provides us with doggie bags for that purpose. However, there are too many who don't so we have to watch where we are stepping. I think it is rather ironic that those of us who have small dogs are the ones that clean up afterwards while those with big dogs rarely do. Some people walking their dogs at the same time as I look at me as if I were crazy or something. Well, that's their problem...my conscience is clear.

Thank you for making this extra effort. May those that don't clean up after their dogs walk a thousand miles on a lawn filled with poo.

It's now to hear that some dog owners are responsible and look after the public interest as well Well done. There has been many a time I have got home and found out too late that the smell that I have brought into the house is on the bottom of my shoes.

That is the worse to find it on your shoes, and even better when you have dragged it into the house and it comes off on your carpet.

People who walk their dogs must clean their dogcleanup after them. This is the problem I'm facing from myneighbour every day. He let his dog do this infront of my home which creates inconvinice to all the people visiting our home. Due to this problem we quarrel with him ever day. Even then he does the same. I need a solution for my problem. Can any one help me...............

Does the dog go on your property? Are there laws in place that don't allow a dog to be off a leash? I would check this out with your local authorities.

i am of the same feeling as you. i have a large patch of grass infront of my house which i use reguarly for recreational purposes and alot of people walk their dogs over it. as soon as i see one however i immediatly jump to my window and if they do not pick up after their dog then i will open my window and kindly remind them that that is their property and would they like a carrierbag to take it with them. khris

Good for you! They shouldn't let their dogs do their duty on other people's properties. It is unsanitary. I have kids playing in my yard all the time and if they had to watch for dog bombs what fun would that be?

I would have to agree with what you said here. Dog owners should be responsible and clean up after their dog's messes! The ones that carry the plastic bags, kudos to them. You know that they are going to do what is right. *laugh* On the other hand, at least some owners are out walking their dogs. I hate to think of the poor dogs that would really enjoy a walk and their owners don't take them out at all due to laziness or not thinking of their dog's needs. So even the ones who aren't picking up after their dogs are at least doing something good for the dog's mental and emotional health by walking them. But it is a real mess if the owners don't clean up after their dogs, so I hope that more people start to realize and be more responsible! ^_^

I have a discussion very much like this I started two months ago: "Have you ever had neighbors walking their dogs stop in your yard and" But I don't blame you for not finding it and posting rather then starting a new discussion because I have been checking and the search engine here is really bad. I really hate it! I have had some neighbor who lets their pet poop in our yard and doesn't pick it up. I have not seen them do it as yet but I keep cleaning up the mess rather then have someone step in it and track it into the house! It is very irresponsible of people to do this. Not to mention rude! There are laws here about letting your pet poop in public places and not picking it up but it doesn't get enforced very well and I am not sure if it covers private property. Anyway, I am so with you on this one!

That is so true. People like that are ignorant. They need to clean up after their dogs. Maybe there should be a law where there is a fine for that because is kinda just like littering.

THIS IS MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE! (no pun intended). We live in a brand new apartment complex that bills itself as a high-end community for young professionals. And it is: it's pricey, it has the ammenties that everyone can enjoy, and it's got a nice clubhouse with a pool table, movie rentals and big screen. and then, at the same time that i'm impressed, i'm disgusted. why? Because of the people that live here and own dogs, probably less than 5% of us actually clean up after our dogs. It's disgusting how much crap is out there laying in the yard, and it's huge piles too. I hate walking the dog out there because I'm afraid that she might get into it and pick up some disease. I've complained to the office about this on several occasions (because they are supposed to issue fines per our lease agreements) and they don't seem to give a crap (ok, pun intended that time). I've contemplated setting up my video camera out there to see if I could catch anyone in the act of not cleaning up after their dogs, but I don't think that's my responsibility. I agree with you that this is a ridiculous problem and people are so irresponsible. It's not hard to pick up after a dog and if you don't want to do it, don't get the dog. Now I'm all fired up!

cleaning up after the pets is very much required and is the missing link generally.most of the dog owners lack in this aspect and need to improve.but,i also have seen some dog owners who are very particular and carry out the cleanup perfectly.but the area still needs improvement.

I never enjoyed carrying that "poop baggie" but I always did it and made sure everyone else in the family did so too. It drives me nuts when people don't clean up after their dogs. I just LOVE the ones who stand there, looking in the other direction, as though they don't NOTICE the little gift their pooch is leaving on someone's lawn. Actually, my backyard neighbor is very unappreciated by everyone in our neighborhood because when she "walks" her two dogs, she never puts them on a lead of any kind (and we do have leash laws). She just walks along and the dogs run EVERYWHERE. All over people's properties, front yards, back yards, whatever... and she occasionally screeches out their names because she hasn't got a clue where they are. You can be sure she's not cleaning up anything they leave behind.

There are so many that do this in our town. I am glad that I live in a place where dogs are not allowed. I love dogs and wish I could have a small one. But, the thought of cleaning up doggie doo doesn't please me. It is bad enough to have to scoop out the litter box of my cats.

TRue, but part of me wants to say, "Just let dogs be dogs." The other part opposes this. I hate dog poo. . . . .

This makes no sens, let dogs be dogs? Has nothing to do with the dog. its the owners, they need to pick it up. period.

I agree with you. People who walk their dogs and do not clean up after them are just plain rude. We have a dog, and we always clean up after him. We certainly don't want other people's dogs pooping on our property, so we don't let ours poop on theirs, or in public areas. It is just common decency.

people who dont clean up after their dogs are just horrible. we dont have dogs you see, so it annoys my mother very much every time she cleans up dog poop in front of our house. she always have a row with dog owners in our area, because they are very inconsiderate.

Actually it should be done by every one who are walking early in the morning with their pets. while they are caring about their pets they should care about the environment cleanliness also.

Oh believe me I know. We have a dog and we pick up after here. That being said there are several in our neighborhood that don't. It's mostly the ones with the little dogs, maybe they think it's too small or something but they will leave it or anyone to find the hard way. We have laws against not picking it up but they have to actually catch you in the act in order to give you the ticket, therefore it's pretty useless.

Yes, they should know how to clean up the mess their pets did. They should be responsible for that. i think policy about it should be pass on government under taking care of the environment, it might be helpful to make a cleaner sorroundings.

I'm with you here. It irritates me when people let their dogs deuce on my lawn - why don't I just go over to your house and deuce on your lawn and see how you like it, you jerk? The guy who last owned my truck before I bought it, let his dog deuce in the bed of the truck and never cleaned it out. Result? I now have petrified dog deuce in my truck bed that has literally been impossible to remove, cuz it is stuck there now. Ugh.

I agree 100% I despise when people do not pick up after their pet, my apartment complex is allowed pets of any sort they do not care but if you go outside the lawn is just littered with land mines from mid size to bigger dogs, not only is it nasty but it is a lack of respect for others.
