I really liked Spike...i thought he added some humor to the shows, but I really loved Angel! Personally, I think that very seldom will a spin off surpass the original show, but I think Angel did just that. He was very complex, a tormented soul, but devoted. I really miss that show and was very angry when it was over! But I still love watching re-runs!

I rented the entire 7 seasons at netflix last year and watched the shows one after another for a few months! I was hooked! This is a real tough question for me though because I think that both Angel and Spike are the perfect man put together!lol I can see your point with Spike :)

lol I think everyone loves the bad boy, if only secretly.
Spike definitely. I liked Angel but he felt sorry for himself a little too much for my tastes. Not even a LITTLE feel-good about himself. And he just started appealing to me less and less as his show went..I DID really like him as a puppet though..that was too cute.
The fact that Spike cansing too is a definite plus. I'd have jumped off a roof had I been anywhere near oe when I was watching that episode he sang kareoke for Lorn...it was just painful.
Spike is just thoroughly a bad boy with overall good tendencies. He always was..well maybe not when he was William the Poet, but nevermind that lol. Nearly his entire life was an entertainingly violent story..which appeals to my own fairly dark tastes in stories. I didn't exactly like Buffy and him together for the little times they were..and I really liked him incorporeal, haunting Angel. He IS funny as well..and humor's ultimately what makes me pick him over the too-serious Angel.
The exception I guess to this is when Angel's Angelus. THEN I'd pick Angelus in a heartbeat because he's just the ultimate predator..insanely fun to watch him mess with his prey's brains, play with them before he kills them. He just reminded me of this big old cat who was great at what he did, enjoyed it, and was just a bit saddistic. Now HIS stories are the only ones that can top Spike's..especially the nunneries.
Lol.

I love Spike more than Angel. I love them together. Spike's addition to the last season of Angel was the best decision they made.
Spike adds a lot of comic relief and sarcasm. I LOVE IT.
I just started re-watching Buffy on FX (or whatever network it's on in syndication) so I don't remember MUCH about him in that series. I do remember that he ended up...
You just finished watching the first season?
Nevermind, I don't want to spoil it for you, LOL.

Well I prefer Spike. Angel is good looking, don't get me wrong and he can be a great guy but Spike for me is better. He has more ranges and the character really changed over the years. He went from the real bad guy to being a good guy. Also I must admit I have a weakness for men who can sing and Spike can sing where Angel cannot. I loved the musical episode and Spike's song in it.

I'm an Angel fan. Always have been. I did warm to Spike in Season 7 but i think Angel was Buffys real true love. I'm not so keen on the Angel series though, except when it has crossovers. However i think i might buy a few more seasons when the get a bit cheaper on DVD. I have a pile of box sets that's two deep and reaches the celing.

I'm an Angel fan. I liked Spike well enough on Buffy, but when the showed up on Angel it seemed he was mostly there for comedy relief. Though I did enjoy how he and Angel riffed off of one another on occasion, like in The Girl in Question.

I was a loyal Buffy fan from the beginnig to the end. Between Angel and Spike, I'd pick Spike. Once Buffy and Spike were interested in each other, I wanted to trade places with her so badly. lol. I watched Angel the series too and I did enjoy that series as well (except the 4th season of Angel, what were they thinking??). Honestly, I enjoy David Boreanaz much more now on Bones then his role as Angel. But Spike...he was just so hot.

I don't understand why people like Spike; if a man tries to rape a woman, he's scum in my book. I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a big fan of Angel, either, but his gentler side shows through more often.

Spike didnt get off the hook. He did suffer and was never really back in the group. They didnt treat the attemped incedent like oh well. He was pentent. You could also say the same about Angel. Before he gained his soul he was scum in your book. The difference between Angel and Spike, Spike sought his out. There have been several flash backs of Angel being scum. So with that reason the only person you really liked was the agent. Sorry forgot his name.

Heh. Yes, you're right, both Spike and Angel were scum in their time. What I like about that show was that even the bad guys weren't one-dimensional, though. Spike ended up sacrificing his life to save the world, and Angel With A Soul is actually a pretty decent person. I wouldn't really want to be bosom buddies with either one of them, I guess, but I was always somewhat more drawn to Angel.

Spike all the way. When he was bad, when he was good, it was ALWAYS Spike for me.
And James Marsters is a sexy guy in real life too. He's in a band called Ghost of the Robot and his song "Dangerous" sticks in my head for days :)
He's a lot older than I expected though. He's 22 years older than I am. Talk about a crush on an older man...

Do i have to choose? Well ok then, i love Spike, he has changed so much over the years, started off as a bad guy, then a good guy, then a tortured good guy and then turns around and saves the world! And the fact that he's better looking than angel helps.

You know, I do love them both, but I'd have to say that I think I liked Spike more. Maybe it was the accent. Accents always do it for me! Oh and let's not forget the episode where he looked like Billy Idol's twin!! Oh my hold me... ROTFL LOVE it!

I would go for Spike... sure both spike and angel have souls now but the diff is that spike loved buffy before it and he went to go get a soul for buffy. Angel got cursed with one and if they both lost their souls spike would still be good while Angel on the other hand would keep trying to kill her and everyone she loves.

I'm a fan of Spike, never really liked Angel that much, but he was a decent character. I did'nt like the pairing of Angel/Buffy though.
One complaint I have about Spike is how he was used. We never really got a chance to see how evil he truly was. I mean he joined up with the slayer at the end of his first season. I was upset we never got to see his darker side.
