Photographic Honesty - Posed Profile Pictures or Candid?

I'm curious, due to another discussion, about how honest people are in their profile and avatar pictures. Not just whether or not a person is actually using their own picture, but if the pictures posted are posed to look as good as possible.
All my profile pictures are of me. I've had people accuse me of posting 'sexy' pictures of myself to get more replies/friends. If people think my pics are sexy, great. I post the pictures that I have on my computer. Most of them are spontaneous. Some look good, some don't. It doesn't matter to me if people think I look good or not.
What about you? Does it matter to you if you're considered attractive or not?

I don't usually post actual photos of myself. The closest I got, was to photos of my eye.
I like funny pictures when I do post them. I have this one pic where I was learning how to use my strobe and umbrella setup, and it wasn't working so I was looking straight into it, took a photo, and it worked... total deer in the headlights look! I used that one for a long time after. It gave the impression that I was very butch as well due to the haircut, which is funny sort of.
Usually, I just use random photos for my avatar and stuff. But almost always, photos that I've taken.

Well congrats you look good in your photos. Other people might refrain from putting personal pictures as aviator due to privacy issues. I chose not to insert my personal photo, due to reasons related to my work. I would have inserted my own photo, whether people think i am good looking or not.

My avatar is an actual picture of myself with one of my pets. It is posed. It does not matter to me if anyone other than my wife finds me attractive overall, but for something like an avatar on an international website, I do want to put my best face on.

It doens't matter to me if a picture is posed or not. If a person is going to put their face in front of 50,000+ people, I can see why they'd want to put their best foot forward.
Most 'candid' pictures of me are side views or taken while I'm doing something, so they don't really give a good look at my face anyway.

Some of my pictures are posed for because I love to take pictures. I think that my pictures are sexy anyway =) There are quite a few that are spontaneous though. I do not post pictures to get more friends - I consider myself an amatuer photographer and like to get others opinions on my work, that is another reason that I post a lot of pictures online.

I'm completely honest in my profile. Always. However, I very, very rarely use photographs of myself as my avatar pictures.
To be completely honest with you, I do have some issues with the way I look and would rather be judged by how and what I write than be judged by the way I look.
Unfortunate as that is, I believe it's true. For instance if you spend any time in a chat room talking to a person for a period of time, the person to whom you are chatting with requests a photo of you.
And it works both ways. I do it without thinking if I see a picture of a girl I think is cute. It will be a thought that goes through my mind very briefly, but it still registers. After that time I'd like to think I'd acknowledged what I was thinking and then concentrate on what this person is about.
Just being honest!!!
