Prolonged pain after flu shot (as in 4 weeks and counting)

I received a flu shot way too high on my arm. The site of the shot was at the end of my collar bone. The shot was more painful than flu shots that I'd had in the past and about 3 hours later I was having quite a bit of pain lifting my arm. The pain slowly edged down over the next 3 days, but was still uncomfortable to raise my elbow above my shoulder.
It's now 4 weeks later and I'm still having pain. Typically it is a dull burning sensation in my shoulder. The more I do during the day the worse it gets though. Sometimes I get shooting pains through my arm and elbow and occassionally feel a dull pain in my hand (mostly my pinky and ring finger).
I've used heating pads, ice packs when the pain is severe, over the counter anti-inflamatories, icy hot, tiger balm, flexall 454, icy hot patches, and thermacare patches. Some seem to help for a short period but obviously it hasn't gotten better.
Has anyone ever had a similar reaction from shot that was too high on your arm (mine was practically on my shoulder)? I've got another appointment with the doctor. The first time I went the PAC told me that there was no way that I got a shot where I did and said that they wouldn't prescribe me any medication (which I didn't ask for in the first place). I am just looking for how to fix this problem because it gets rather painful at times to the point where I occassionaly have extreme discomfort lifting items that weigh more than 20 pounds.

A similar thing happened to me this year. I received my flu shot at the top of my arm nearest my shoulder. It was extremely sore the day following the shot, and the soreness has persisted for upwards of 3 weeks. It especially hurts when I lift my arm normally or sideways. The pain lessened for a couple of days around week 2, but then it returned in full force after that. I have not seen a doctor yet for fear that he will think I am a hypochondriac, but if this does not clear up I imagine that will be necessary.

yes. i just got a flu shot 2 weeks ago and developed pain in my arm hours after the shot. The nurse gave it too far up on the arm. I know because I have given many shots when I was a corpsman in the Navy. I went to the doctor this Friday and was diagnosed as having tendonitis. The pain at times is unbearable. I was prescribed Lorecets. I cannot take anti inflammatories due to having a bleeding ulcer at one time and GERD. I am being referred to a physcial therapy. I cannot lift my arm above my chest. Nor can I turn my arm inward. I would suggest you see another doctor because it is possible that you also have tendonitis.
