OK I'm married, so this doesn't apply to me at this point in time... but I thought it could be fun... if you're not dating either, think back to when you did...
What is the absolute worst or most annoying thing that someone could do on a first date?

back in high school, i went on a date with a boy who first took me to McDonalds, then to a drive in movie, and then wanted to "park" (he wanted more than to just park). When I told him it was our first date, and that i didn't do that anyway, he told me "well i DID take you to dinner and a movie!"...i was livid! I told him to take me home immediately and i never went out with him again, ...i didn't even talk to him again!

Wow... "dinner and a movie" has a whole different connotation AFTER high school, doesn't it? LOL It usually doesn't involve food that comes in a paper wrapper ;
What an insult that date was, though! He might as well have just come out and said, "well, I PAID for this part!" YEEEEESH!!!

Yeah well... high school boys must be trained to think that. I never really dated in HS so I didn't have this happen, but it seemed like all guys that age thought that was supposed to be how it goes. They must have all gone through a class or something where their older brothers said "just take her to dinner and a movie then she's yours!"

While in high school there was a particular boy I had my eye one and wanted to go out with. He asked me out and I was very excited about it. We went to a party where he then started drinking and got extremely drunk. I called my parents to come and get me as I was NOT going to get back into a vehicle with him.
The next day he called and asked me where I disappeared to and did I want to go out that night. Hmmm. NO. : )
I was very thankful to have parents who had told me in advance about calling home for a ride and would never be lectured concerning the reasons why. I did tell them the reason why, but I did not have to.

I tell my girls that too, Lostinoz... don't be afraid to call, you're not going to get in trouble. I want to know they're home safe and sound -- lessons and lectures can be shelved for another time!

Yeah, this was definitely a good thing my parents did for me. I am doing this with my kids, too. Sometimes it can be hard keeping those lines of communication open, but I don't want them to feel they cannot come to me when they need me the most.
I have talked with them about riding with people who have been drinking and hope they are as scared of the consequences as I was as a teenager.

Being mean or obnoxious would be the worst. I know a lot of guys turn mean/obnoxious over time, but if you can't be nice on the first date than there's no hope! I had a guy ask me out once and right after made fun of me for not watching a certain thing that "everybody watches". A week later I cancelled the date! Don't make fun of a girl you aren't even dating!

No sooner than we said goodbye to my parents and entered his car, he began "russian hands and roman fingers" while "asking" me what movie I wanted to see. The world's shortest date (in my life) lasted exactly 4 minutes as I left him in his car and went back inside the house. Do you know he stayed out there waiting for me for 20 minutes before getting the hint?
